I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm watching the Academy of Country Music Awards and unwinding after a very busy weekend. Brian and I ran two 5ks this weekend. We had planned on one but not the second one. They were both great experiences and very different from most 5ks I've run.

I hope no one was on the receiving end of any bad April 1st jokes.

Ooooh Jason Aldean, got to run and sing along. I'll be back tomorrow.

I had my monthly weigh in this past weekend. Went up one pound, for a total loss since 1 Jan of 10 lbs. It's funny. I'm not really upset about it or even concerned for two reasons-- I know I did the best I could with what I had a really ROUGH past month, and also, I put on a button down shirt this morning that was a little snug and today it is loose. HOORAY. But it's funny what stress will do to a person's eating habits and weight loss attempts.

Overall, life is good, so I can't really complain. And there are only 16 days until my first 5k back after the Marathon weekend funtivities, and 19 more days until my next fabulous Disney vacation.

Oh, I also wanted to share this with everyone in case anyone was looking for some new inspirations: http://www.skinnytaste.com/

I've also finally caught up with the thread--

Congrats on the job, Kat! That's great news!

Karen-- jealous on the biking. I'm deathly afraid of riding bikes. I probably hadn't ridden a bike since 1986, and despite buying one with all the best intentions of riding it to work every day (I used to live under a half mile from work), one fall as an adult was all it took to scare me off it for good. The next day I sold it to my upstairs neighbor for like a quarter of what it was worth. So I'll live vicariously through you with the biking.

Lisa- hooray on the .9!

And I think the only thing worse than Leafs hockey is being forced to watch your team when they come down to play Florida. Granted the B's didn't do so hot in this last matchup and the Panthers as a team aren't that bad to watch, but as much as I love hockey and bleed black and gold, oh man does watching games down here hurt. I miss the Garden. The old one. And the new one they also call the Garden. I miss ZombieNation. I miss Blades. I double miss the guy who dances with the big moustache and crazy hat. All I have now is the Ole! Ole! chant to Jose! Jose!, and some cheerleaders to do the dancing. I know it's better than nothing but man... I miss my Boston hockey. Sorry to go all nostalgic. I've only been out of the Boston area since November, but I've been really missing it lately.

We will be at Kidani Village (AKL) for three days-- 21-23. We have yet to schedule any ADRs-- I was really bad and made them the morning of during our last trip. I'm really excited for the restaurants at AKL though, so I anticipate them being on our list.

I did go to a Celtics playoff game and had tons of fun. What can I say I can be very spoiled.

Nope, no Bruins game. I think they played one of the Florida teams... the Panthers maybe. My second year at BU I went for a long weekend with one of the girls on my hockey team. We went to the Hockey Hall of Fame, ate at Wayne Gretzky's restaurant and went to a Leafs game. We also went and saw Niagara Falls. Me and my friend split the ten layer chocolate cake at Gretzky's restaurant, I can still see it in my mind. We did other things in the city as well but our focus was the hockey stuff. I loved every minute we spent in Toronto.

And way to go on the .9!!!

The one on Saturday was the one we'd been planning to do. It was put on by the athletic boosters club for a town near Brian's house. They had the spring sports teams help to run it. I don't know if it was because it was the first year but they didn't have a map of the course up on the website but I figured it was a 5k so I wasn't really worried. Well the first half mile was on a dirt road. (It was very smooth and pretty good to run on though.) Then all of a sudden you take this turn into the woods and you're running up and down the side of a very large hill. I'm talking up and down, back and forth in the woods. Then you come out of that and the last portion is thru a field with a zig zagging path mowed into it. I guess it's the course the cross country team uses to train and it was fun but not what I expected. The starting line directions were... "Don't touch the squirrels and stay in the mowed path of the maze." But there was a delicious pancake breakfast included in the race entry with fresh Vermont maple syrup. The course was beautiful and someone was burning wood near by so it smelled great as you ran. I also love the pictures Brian took as we were running because I certainly won't get pictures like that running in Boston. With a free tee shirt it was definitely worth my $15, the train portion just caught me completely off guard.

The one we did Saturday was put on by University of Vermont and had an April Fools theme. You had to pick up certain object along the course, remember things you read on signs, get a hidden phrase and run to the finish. They did funny little awards and it was a very low key event. They didn't make you remember anything complex but just enough stuff to make it fun. They had eggs filled with candy along the course and students along the way dressed up and being silly.

Kat- The new job sounds like a good change of pace and could lead you to seeing a lot of different places. Congrats!

So I ran both 5ks this weekend in less then 30 minutes so I'm getting close to where I was before the injury. The last week or so I've definitely noticed huge improvements and my ankle seems to be swelling less so that is good. Especially now that I'm about a month away from Tough Mudder. One month... I'm not sure I'll ever be ready for it.

I adore that kind of run. We have a game refuge here that I like to do trail runs in.

Kat: yay on the .9!! Poo on the 1.4 I gained last week!

Lisa: Yay on the new job! Before dog and hubby, I'd be ALL OVER the travelling. Leaving the Wonder Mutt would kill me; the hubby, not so much, KIDDING!

Rhi: I know what you mean about the hockey. Now, even though we were mortal enemies for years (yes, I was a HUGE Whalers fan), I found when I moved down here, that hockey just wasn't the same. The game itself isn't even the same. No cross checks, bench clearing fights, or really any real fights at all. And hockey? In south Florida? Not so much. Oh, and side note: the kid's softball coach quit since he was told his other kid who was actually coaching the team (very softball smart but just yelled at the girls all game long), wasn't allowed in the dugout any more. So now the DH is the head coach and has some great backup from his assistant coaches. Maybe we can actually end up winnning more than two games this season. They had an actual practice last night with drills, and basics, and all that good stuff, instead of an hour and a half of a 13 year-old screaming at them the whole time.

Working on continuing to build the mileage this week with the DH for the Wine and Dine. And SOOOOOO ready for our May trip. Boy do I miss the Mouse!!!!!

Karen- have you ever tried reflexology? One of my gf's has plantar faciitis that is currently flared in BOTH feet. She had a reflexology session the other day and has seen tremendous improvement already.

So. I had every intention of writing up my race report tonight. But life had other plans. <sigh> at least I got my pictures uploaded to photobucket so that I can post a few!

funny story with this one:

And I'm sure you can guess whose score is whose! (and notice the accuracy as well as the final score

Nancy, never tried reflexology, but doubt I could find anyone out in my rural area that does it. There's really nothing out here and I just don't have the funds or time with my petsitting to travel into St. Louis. The feet seem a tiny bit better lately, I just keep doing my stretches and waiting. I ordered some birkenstocks, which I luckily found in a non-hippy style, b/c their normal sandals are not my style. They are supposed to help as well and I need something for the warm weather!

Biking is helping and going pretty well. Rhi- the first time I went down a big hill, I didn't realize how scary it would feel! I'm trying to stick to flatter areas b/c of my feet (can't walk up hills if they are too steep) so that has helped.

Love the pic of you Goddesses!

Meg, those 5K's sound unique and fun! Glad your ankle is better, I'm sure you will ROCK the mudder!

So after years of eating veggie/raw, I went back to low carb. It's what I lost the first time with and I just had to do something to shake it up. I'm not eating mammals or anything, but I did add in fish, eggs, and cheese. We'll see. I lost a few pounds, but now it's creeping back up for no reason, I don't have the time or energy to figure out why, just keep truckin.
