Well honestly I am not sure to be honest. Since I have a inside source I will say the Hawaiian port schedules are wrong though.

What does your "inside source" have to do with the April 2012 Hawaii cruise? Either the itinerary on DCL's web site is correct or it isn't.

I guess what I failed to get across is DCL is correct. I brought this to my friends attention and was assured I was too going to Kawai. Heck I even have a excursion booked there.

So this could possibly mean that maybe, hopefully there could be more trips to Hawaii besides September I guess?

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, port calendars can certainly be wrong, and I'm hoping the ones in Madeira and Gibraltar are wrong for May and October 2013!

It just very well may. I certainly hope so. We already know we want to do it again but Sep 2013 does not work for us as we have to be on the 9/29/13 sailing if the Dream for a friends Wedding.

I seriously doubt it. From my understanding the Magic is returning to the ship builder for a huge overhaul as she will be 15 years old by then. About a month or two right now from what I have been told. We will see if that holds true.

Sorry that this is a bit off topic with the Wonder and Hawaii, but what would they do to the Magic during an overhaul? I'm guessing it's more than a normal dry dock.

I am guessing a complete overhaul. Replacing things they normaly would not replace like maybe a engine or something. Updating some tech. Not sure, just what I have been told. Again we shall see if it stays true. Back to our topic.

The only reason a round trip is more attractive to me is that its cheaper. Airfare to or from Hawaii and possible lodging and transportation in Hawaii add significant cost to the trip. Then there's airfare to or from Vancouver plus possible lodging. Even if a round trip out of Vancouver would be cheaper in terms of flights and lodging.

To me it is a much more attractive itinerary than roundtrip from Los Angeles.

Neither are distant ports. However, a one-way cruise to or from Hawaii could begin or end in either because they aren't US ports. What the ship can't do is a one-way cruise that begins or ends in California with a port stop in Ensenada. Mexico has to be the beginning or end of that cruise.
Thanks for the clarification..upon rereading the post I questioned I get it now. I can only plead posting when I should be sleeping

As I posted elsewhere, they could stay in Hawaii with the foreign port being Fanning Island....burns up 2 days of the cruise, but other lines have used that to keep foreign flagged ships in Hawaii.

I have a friend who did that itinerary I think on Princess, and really enjoyed it.

It's 1162 nautical miles from Honolulu to Kiritimati (not far from Fanning Island; Google doesn't want to give me Fanning Island ) - and that seems like more than one day of sailing each way.

It actually burns up 5 days. I found an old NCL itinerary from 2009 online: (I had friends who did this cruise, and I *thought* it had burned up more than 2 days!)

http://www.palmstravel.com/Cruise.htm

3) 10-Day Hawaii and Kiribati

Wed -- Depart - Honolulu, Oahu
Thu --- Hilo, Hawaii
Fri ----Cruising At Sea
Sat ---Cruising At Sea
Sun ---Fanning Island in Kiribati
Mon ---Cruising At Sea
Tue ---Cruising At Sea
Wed ---Nawiliwili, Kauai
Thu ---Lahaina, Maui
Fri ----Kona, Hawaii
Sat ---Disembark - Honolulu, Oahu
For that many Sea Days, you may as well sail one-way out of Vancouver.

Honestly, if it was only 2 days, everyone would do it!
