25. Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory -- In a very rare occurence, I haven't even heard of this movie
24. Young Adult -- looking forward to this one
23. Drive -- saw it, didn't love it
22. We Need to Talk About Kevin
21. J Edgar
20. Bridesmaids -- UGH! Of all the movies I've seen this year and actually sat through (you'll see what I mean in a bit), this is my least favorite by far!!!
19. Kung Fu Panda 2
18. The Ides of March -- great movie, but the ending totally ruined it for me
17. Albert Nobbs
16. Shame
15. My Week with Marilyn
14. Rango
13. The Iron Lady
12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 -- will not be seeing this
11. Beginners -- much sadder than I anticipated
10. The Tree of Life -- I lasted less than half an hour. This is the worst movie I have EVER seen, easily. I have no words.
9. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
8. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo -- My absolute favorite movie of the year!
7. Moneyball-- Great movie. In my personal Top Ten.
6. Midnight in Paris-- I liked it, but didn't think it lived up to the hype. It wasn't as well-developed as I would have liked.
5. Hugo -- Will be seeing this soon, I hope!
4. The Help -- Also in my Top Ten. And one of two movies this year that I've liked almost as much as the book. A very rare happening!
3. War Horse -- Excellent. Another one of my Top Tens!
2. The Descendants
1. The Artist -- Very much looking forward to this one as well.

Looks like I have some movie-watching to do! I'll see everything on the list except for #25, and Harry Potter And I will not torture myself with the other 70% of Tree of Life. Ugh.

My name is Chris-Brad and I am a film addict. Here are my thoughts...!

25. Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory --- No interest in it. (Bad way to start the list, I know.)
24. Young Adult --- Saw this with the gf. It was ok. Nothing special.
23. Drive --- Loved it. Amazed at how dark it could be. Gosling ftw.
22. We Need to Talk About Kevin --- Saw this last month. Swindon was awesome, but the movie was just average.
21. J Edgar --- Very disappointed in the film as a whole. DiCaprio was amazing, but it wasn't the strongest biopic I've seen.
20. Bridesmaids --- Laughed my ### off. Saw it the same night as Hangover 2 and liked it better. It is nice to see a comedy get some attention. And Melissa McCarthy (sp?) has been a favorite of mine since her GG days. Yes, I watched GG. Move on.
19. Kung Fu Panda 2 --- The first KFP was better.
18. The Ides of March --- Not my favorite political thriller, but not the worst. Gosling was better in Drive and Crazy Stupid Love and Clooney was better in The Descendants.
17. Albert Nobbs --- Still need to catch this one JUST for the performance.
16. Shame --- Saw it last week at an arthouse theatre. It was....good?
15. My Week with Marilyn --- Very disappointing film. Don't get me wrong, Michelle Williams is very good, but the movie itself was not too entertaining or moving).
14. Rango --- I saw it with my nephew. Was ready to hate it. Actually loved it. My favorite animated film of the year.
13. The Iron Lady --- Have seen a lot of clips. Still need to see the movie for the performance.
12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 --- Pretty, but...yeah....
11. Beginners --- Have yet to see it.
10. The Tree of Life --- As a film, it is brilliant. As a movie, it was a bore.
9. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close --- Tom Hanks was miscast if you ask me.... But the kid was very good!
8. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo --- Hard to watch even after having read the book and seeing the Swedish flick. But very good.
7. Moneyball --- My favorite movie of the year. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
6. Midnight in Paris --- Love the concept. Love the script. Love the ambiance. Wish anyone other than Owen Wilson had starred in it.
5. Hugo --- Sorry, but I did not like it.
4. The Help --- Loved it. Laughed, wanted to cry (fine, MAYBE there was a tear but you can't prove it!). Two-slice Hilly...hehehehe
3. War Horse --- Saw this on Christmas. Pretty. But not my favorite.
2. The Descendants --- Fun film. Clooney is great. But not the best.
1. The Artist --- FINALLY saw this. Perhaps the build-up of talk and awards made me think it was going to be the best thing since Ginsu knives, but I thought it was just a good film, not a great film.

Well this is real easy for me!

20. Bridesmaids - loved this so much I bought a copy.
12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 - It did the series proud
7. Moneyball - Very good. Brad Pitt was believable in his role, not sure he deserves the Oscar for it though.
6. Midnight in Paris - We loved this. Quirky fun. I want to buy this so I can watch it again, lots of quirky details I am sure I missed the first time around
5. Hugo - Saw this with my DS - he loved it, I thought it was o.k.
4. The Help - Great movie, not as good as the book
3. War Horse - I thought this was very slow, had to really force myself to stay awake. DH and the other couple we went with loved it.

Well once again I have only seen two (Harry Potter and The Help). DH and I used to go to movies ALL the time! We would do movie marathons seeing 3 of them back-to-back on a Saturday or Sunday.

Then we had kids.

The only movie I have any desire to see on that list is The Iron Lady. I may eventually see Harry Potter with a couple of VERY strong adult beverages.

Absolute movie nut here too. We have a low rent "screening room" in our living room, with a 92" screen that pulls down from the ceiling! Still got to the theater sometimes when I can't wait.

25. Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory - haven't heard of it
24. Young Adult - saw it, didn't love it, but it was well done
23. Drive Netflix queue (NQ), DD is anxious for this one
22. We Need to Talk About Kevin - not sure I want to see it, but it's in the NQ
21. J Edgar - ditto no. 22
20. Bridesmaids - liked it better on the second viewing, at the theater it kind of grossed me out. Love MM
19. Kung Fu Panda 2 - haven't seen it, don't care if I do
18. The Ides of March - NQ
17. Albert Nobbs - NQ
16. Shame - probably will not see, not my cup of tea
15. My Week with Marilyn - NQ
14. Rango - got it from Netflix, DD and DH liked it, I read a book
13. The Iron Lady - NQ
12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 - Loved it, own it
11. Beginners - Liked it a lot, thought it was charming but sad
10. The Tree of Life - thoroughly confused, but watched the whole thing from Netflis
9. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - might pass on this one
8. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - will probably get dragged to this by family
7. Moneyball - loved it, not even a baseball fan
6. Midnight in Paris - If a movie can be adorable, this one qualifies. Saw it twice
5. Hugo - kind of bored by it, saw it in 3D
4. The Help - Loved it, own it, Emma was better than the awards suggest
3. War Horse - NQ
2. The Descendants Didn't love it as much as I thought I would, too sad. But cast is wonderful.
1. The Artist - Another charmer, I can see what the fuss is about. But Best Picture? I would choose something else, seems like a gimmick to me.

Anything without a comment is one I haven't seen and probably won't bother with.

25. Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory
24. Young Adult
23. Drive
22. We Need to Talk About Kevin
21. J Edgar
20. Bridesmaids
19. Kung Fu Panda 2
18. The Ides of March
17. Albert Nobbs
16. Shame
15. My Week with Marilyn
14. Rango
13. The Iron Lady - Seeing it this weekend
12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 - Liked it.
11. Beginners
10. The Tree of Life
9. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
8. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Saw the original Swedish trilogy and loved it. Might see this to see how it holds up against the original
7. Moneyball- Liked it
6. Midnight in Paris
5. Hugo
4. The Help
3. War Horse - Loved it. Thought the timeline could have been done better, but other than that was pretty good (based on the uniforms and equipment the movie seemed to jump from 1914 to 1916 in the space of what seemed like a couple of weeks.)
2. The Descendants
1. The Artist

I rented Beginners from redbox, so I'll be able to update my list later on A quick glance at the movie listings made me wonder why Melancholia didn't make this list. I seem to remember the EW critics raving about it.

I agree about Melancholia. I'm also surprised Margin Call wasn't on the list. That was very good and is available from Netflix.

So I watched Beginners last night and while I liked it, it was not at all what I expected. Based on the reviews and stuff, I guess I was expecting something slightly more upbeat for some reason. This was incredibly SAD.

And I love Christopher Plummer and fully expect him to get an Oscar nom, but I think the best character in this movie was the DOG! What a great addition to the storyline.
