Category 8A on The Dream

Hi! My friend and I are planning to take our sons (who are best friends) on a Dream cruise in 2013. There will be 4 of us. I saw that there are category 8A rooms that look bigger than the other staterooms, with 2 floor to ceiling portholes and a wall dividing the room. Does anyone have pics of those kinds of rooms? How are they? Do they have a murphy bed from the wall or from the ceiling or both? Just trying to get an idea of whether or not this would be the way to go.
Thanks!!!

There are only a couple of 8A rooms on the Dream that sleep 4. There is a whole thread with 8A details and some pictures. Search on user silverfox97 and you may find it.

There are two pairs of connecting rooms that are real cool because each room is set up like a mini suite with a partial wall to separate the main sleeping area from the living area. They are the 5x20/5x22 rooms. Each only has a single bathroom (not split bath) and sleeps only 3. the 5x18 rooms next door sleep 4 but have accessible bathrooms with no tub and roll in shower. On deck 6, 6514 (I think) and it's sister room across the hall sleeps 4 in one big open space with a support pole in the middle of the room at the foot of the bed. The other 8A rooms on deck 6 are accessible rooms I believe.

The rooms that sleep 3 only have the couch/day bed beside the main bed. The others that sleep 4 have a bunk bed as well. None of the 8A rooms sleep 5, so no murphy beds.

I'm pretty sure we were just in an 8A (5166) and it only slept 3. There was no pull down bunk bed. But it was a great cabin!

We had an 8A on Dream in August (stateroom 6512). Two huge portholes, pull down bunk over the couch. No split bath, but the shower is a walk-in. Room is easily 50% larger than the normal stateroom since it goes widthwise vice lengthwise. It was great. It was all the way forward, so it was a bit of a walk even to the forward elevators, but we didn't miss having a verandah at all. Check the stateroom reports and you'll see a few others. We actually reserved another 8A (5520) while on our cruise for next Christmas.

This.
Just had an 8A (6512) on the Dream in Dec. We were GTY and got assigned the cabin. I am pretty sure it is a HA cabin. I did a room report when we returned. Lots of room. Not sure if I would ever get it again. As we do not require a HA cabin. We just rcv'd it when they assigned our GTY.

Just a general FYI- beware of the 8D / 8A rooms on Deck 5 forward. We were in 5178 (8D) in October and the noise from Evolution on deck 4 was bad and it goes until 2AM. Check the location of your stateroom in regards to where Evolution is below!! I loved the room, but not the noise.

Evolution is aft, not forward. I assume the OP meant aft.

The Walt Disney Theater is on decks 3/4 forward. Maybe that was the noise that was heard on deck 5 forward but the shows finish at 9:30 pm.

My humble apologies, you are correct! We were aft and we were certainly above Evolution!! So beware the Deck 5 AFT 8D's!!

Those double porthole rooms that look like HA and have the walk in shower WERE originally HA rooms on the preliminary deck plans but they did not pass the requirements of a HA, so they are open to be booked by anyone now.
