2011 - What day is it? - Day 17 - Animal Kingdom & 50's Prime Time Cafe *VIDEO ADDED*
Day 17 – Animal Kingdom & 50’s Prime Time Café
Today’s videos - **50’s PRIME TIME CAFÉ** & **MULCH, SWEAT & SHEARS** Today was an early get up as we made our way to Animal Kingdom EMH, getting there just before rope drop. I rushed ahead of Sue & Emma to get fast passes for Everest. In total, we managed to ride this 4 times. After that, we made way over to Kilimanjaro Safari. This was about a 30-minute wait, but the lines seemed to continuously move and soon we were on the vehicle. Quite a few animals were out and about but, guess what?...... yet again the lion was still on top of the rock! Next we visited Its Tough to be a Bug and we timed this just right as the theatre doors were opening. ![]() ![]() We slowly wandered back into Asia, having a look inside the Yak & Yeti gift shop. I was quite surprised to see this here as we had never noticed it before. It is full of small Asian trinkets and some nice t-shirts, I purchased a Yak & Yeti t-shirt. Whilst we were here I noticed that the lunchtime menu was being served and so we decided to have an early lunch. We ate outside in the rear courtyard. The portions here for counter service are huge. Nigel – Sweet & Sour Chicken + Frozen Lemonade + Sprite Sue – Sweet & Sour Chicken + Chocolate Cake + Water Emma – Honey Chicken + Chocolate Cake + Diet Coke ![]() ![]() A number of ducks were roaming the courtyard waiting for any stray food that should happen to fall to the floor. We returned back to OKW where Sue and Emma had some pool time and I had a nap in the room. Before we departed for our holiday, Sue had been in touch with her friend Margaret, who she hadn’t seen for quite a while. Margaret, Geoff and the rest of their family would also be travelling out to Orlando around two weeks later. We had arranged to all meet up at the Polynesian at around 2:30 for a chat. The next few hours just flew by as we exchanged stories of our holiday, and also had a few drinks. ![]() Since visiting Margaret & Geoff back at their home in U.K. we find out that there may be a slight chance of them returning next year to Orlando. So if any one you are reading this (Marg or Geoff) get the booking sorted for August 2012, we would love to meet up again over there, only next time, make it a bit longer! Unfortunately we had to leave too soon since we had an ADR booked at 50’s Prime Time Café. We made our way over to DHS, cutting it rather fine, arriving about 5 minutes late. The café was rather busy, as usual, as we made our way to the check-in desk. Surprisingly, we were call to our table after approximately 15 minutes. Our server tonight was Uncle Tim, who was a perfect host right from the start. Sitting across at the next table was a nice family from Wales and it wasn’t long before Uncle Tim went into match making mode, pairing up Emma with their son Morgan - of a similar age. ![]() Take a look at the video to see how they got on!. The food was good home cooking and I had no trouble in clearing my plate. Nigel – Pot Roast + Strawberry Sundae + Diet Coke Sue – Fried Chicken + Caramel Sundae + Diet Coke Emma – Pot Roast + Caramel Sundae + Diet Coke ![]() ![]() ![]() I had to help Sue out in clearing her plate since Uncle Tim was on the lookout for any food left uneaten. During our meal the young Welsh lad - Morgan, who was sat at the next table, had decided he didn’t want to eat all of his green and Uncle Tim stepped in. He was given a lecture of how good vegetables are for you and that you shouldn’t waste food. It was obvious he wasn’t going to eat it, so Uncle Tim took away his plate, saying that he could not have dessert. However, later Uncle Tim returned carrying a large sundae glass full with what looked like chocolate cake with whipped cream on top. Mama had changed her mind saying that Morgan could have dessert after all. Suddenly there was an uproar of laughter. We looked across and when Morgan had dug through the whipped cream, his spoon was full of cabbage! ![]() ![]() We said our goodbyes to our fellow diners and Uncle Tim, promising to return again next year. By the time we got outside it was dark and we managed to listen to a few songs by Mulch, Sweat and Shears who were performing in front of Mickeys’ hat. ![]() ![]() On leaving the park we called into Walmart to stock up on supplies and finally returned back to OKW at around 11:30. Coming up next – Magic Kingdom – Pop Century – Hoop de Doo Revue Return to INDEX
