Things I'm thankful for...

I got the call this afternoon that DH was going to be released~! They actually wanted to keep him another day, but he begged them and told them he would get superior care at home (I guess marrying a nurse has its benefits, LOL)

So, as you may know, I've been up at the hospital for the past 4 days. I set my turkey out to thaw on Sat night, so at least that much was done. But looking around my house, all I could see was dirty dishes, laundry that needs folding, trash that needs taking out, no pies cooling, no casseroles made, etc. And just about the moment that I begin to feel a little down, I decided to look for at least one positive thing about the day.

So at the top of my list goes "DH home from the hospital."
In addition I am thankful for:

*Oatmeal. I wanted to make a pie, but I'm missing several ingredients. However, I have oatmeal and some pecans, so I made some giant oatmeal cookies for dessert.

*Pre-packaged mashed potatoes. I don't have any regular potatoes in the house, but I somehow found these microwave potatoes in the fridge, and they're IN DATE.

*Turkey gravy in a jar. I can make gravy but I'm so stressed today, I don't think I could do it. Surprise! I found a large jar of turkey gravy in the pantry! It's like Christmas, but it's Thanksgiving.

So, I don't have all the usual stuff we get for Thanksgiving but somehow I just can't be upset. DH is resting in his Lazy-boy with his oxygen on and we have plenty of medicine, fluids, and healthy food. That's really all we need in the world.
Never underestimate the determination of the mother with a handicapped child

Today I am thankful for my family.
DH, "my wonderful husband" who works hard so that I can be a stay-at-home mom. Who puts up with my whining and complaining and "interesting" dinners. Who loves me unconditionally and would do anything for me.
DS, "my wonderful" son. Who shows me daily what a strong and caring young man he is becoming. Who tests my patience and proves to me that he is capable of anything he puts his mind to. Who loves me unconditionally and would do anything for me.
Ddog, "my wonderful" Beagle. Who is getting older and while not as spry as he was as a pup still makes me laugh. Who shows me daily that old dogs can learn new tricks. Who loves me unconditionally.
I am truly blessed and am happy to spend Thanksgiving with the 3 who love me the most, who I love the most.

I am thankful for my electricity and cable today - after the snowstorm yesterday/last night, many are without power, including my Dparents, DSis and her DH and my DSon and family. I got to host an unplanned Thanksgiving here at my house! A huge Thanks to the linemen and cable workers spending their holiday working so we may all enjoy ours.

I'm thankful for my family and the adults my kids have become.

I'm thankful for law enforcement and first responders for all they do. My son is a police officer, and a close friend was murdered in the line of duty in September by a disturbed individual. I pray ever day that they come home safely at the end of their shifts.

Glad your husband is home, Minkydog. I bet your Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful!

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody

I am thankful to DH and all the other healthcare workers who worked today. I am thankful I am not one who needed their care. I am thankful for my wonderful children who never fail to make me smile. I am thankful for the wonderful adults they are becoming. I am thankful for a roof over our head and food on our plates.

I'm thankful that Minkydog's husband is home and that she, for once in what seems to be a very long year, is finally catching a break!

My DH is spending T-giving in Ohio with his mom, who has been very ill, and as many siblings/families as could make it. We couldn't afford the airfare ($600 per ticket) for DD and me to go, also, but I am thankful that DH gets to spend T-giving with his mom, and that her chemo on Tuesday didn't make her too ill to enjoy the holiday.

DD is also not here, but I am thankful that she's met a wonderful young man who cherishes her. They are spending T-giving with his family, and they are overjoyed that she is there.

I am thankful for my brother, who changed his holiday plans to come up and spend the time with me, so I wasn't alone for Thanksgiving! I'm also thankful for the dear friends who welcomed both of us to their holiday feast.

I am thankful that I was able to shovel the 16" of snow that fell yesterday, clearing the porch, steps, and driveway, without injuring my bad back or old knees. DH will be home on Sunday to finish up.
Returned on 10/16/14 from the Most Magical 21st Birthday Celebration EVER!!
