Great! Thanks for the latest update on the ever-changing PM meals! I like the idea of self-service better...not sure why, but it just seems much more efficient. That also probably means the buffet is there to stay.

I've been trying to find out if Maya Grill rolled out their new dinner menu yet; they announced there would be a new menu appearing in late December, but I don't see anything new on any of the menus on different websites.

online check in or not

Wanted to see what you all think. We will arrive on Sunday the 12th I have put in a room request thru the Special request line due to disability. We will arrive around 8am and are hoping to have the room before 3pm so our daughter can take a nap. If you do online check in is your chance of the room be ready earlier better and do you think we will still get our request if we do online check in and if they don't notice the request can they still move us?
So in other words do you think we are more likely to get the request and the room be ready a little earlier by doing online or should we just do regular check in?

According to another site, they have not yet rolled out the new menu.

I just got my Disney packet for our April trip at CSR today! I'm so excited to stay here again. It's been so long since I was there last. I did take advantage of the AP discount and popped for the preferred king room. I assume this will be in the Casitas section?
Cool! Thanks for the info - I never knew how to do that.

Yes, the preferred rooms are in casitas 1, 2 and 3. Hope you have a magical trip!

Hi,

I am going to CSR in a few weeks and wanted to know if it was too early to call to try and request a room in a certain area of the hotel? From what I understand, we don't want a room in the "Ranchos" area. We are a family of 4 and my kids are 2 and 5, and we'll be bringing a stroller. Any recommendations on what part of the resort is best for this situation? Most of our time will be spent at the parks.

Does anyone know if it might be warm enough to use the pool at the end of February?

Maya Grill - have read some bad reviews. Does anyone actually like it?

Thanks so much!!!

So have had my heart set on CSR for this Nov. but cannot book it for the dates I want.I know someone here said that there might be a convention and rooms are being held....so here is my question if a room does become available will the resort be full? I am thinking Nov. 10-18 which I hope is a slower time at disney. So if not CSR where would you go

According to their facebook page, they are still working on the new menu.

Not a guarantee by any means, but we checked in around 7am. No online check-in and there was NO ONE but us checking in. They were SOOO wonderful and got us the prefect room and it was ready by 7:30 AM!! It took her a few extra minutes to find the room she wanted us to have (a free upgrade) so she gave us a voucher for a taxi to get us to MK by rope drop!
They really are good and will do their best to help you out.

Lovethattink -So Pepper Market is no longer doing the buffet pricing for lunch? How about breakfast? I prefer the breakfast to be self-serve as well. Buffet price is crazy for breakfast food.

I am not sure what percentage of rooms are adjoining. We have rarely heard any noise from the rooms next door, though.

We like cabanas since it is close to the Dig Site but not too far from the main building, but some parts of Ranchos are also close to the Dig Site. Ranchos has some benefits - it is the quietest section, it is the second stop picked up on the way to the parks (stop #3, but the second stop on the parks route), ranchos 7B has a quiet pool and laundry as well as being close to the Dig Site. Ranchos are a 10-15 minute walk to the main building, but you might not mind that if you have a stroller.

If you want to be close to the first bus stop picked up - casitas 4 or 5 (casitas 1, 2 and 3 are preferred buildings).
If you want to be close to the Dig Site, it is best to say close to Dig Site, but that could be ranchos 7B, cabanas 8A or 8B.
If you want to be closest to the main building, casitas 1,2 or 3 (preferred) or cabanas 9A or 9B).

It is not too soon to call in your request. It is generally best to ask for what you want (near Dig Site, quiet area, near laundry, etc) than to request a specific building, but you can do both).

February can be hit or miss - we have been when it was in the 30s at night and when it was in the 70s during the day (different parts of the same trip).

We have only eaten once at Maya Grill and it was pretty good. It was several years ago, though.

I'd keep checking. Rooms will likely be released. I wouldn't expect the resort to be full, but if the convention takes up a lot of rooms, you probably won't see those people much anyway.

CSR is the only moderate we've stayed at. If we couldn't do CSR, we'd do AKL. If we needed to stay moderate, we would check out POR - it is currently being refurbed to get queen beds. POFQ has them too, but the theming isn't really my style.

It's still buffet for breakfast and lunch, and still the same pricing.

Dinner is still ala carte, but my server said that in 2 to 3 weeks dinner is suppose to go to buffet. However, when I inquired beyond my server, I was told at this time the plan is to keep dinner ala carte.

By self-serve, I meant that you get your own food. In the beginning, you were served by someone. So if someone was getting a taco made for them at the taco bar, and you wanted a quesadilla, you'd have to wait for the chef to come serve you. Now the chef keeps the food flowing, nice and hot, but you serve yourself. It makes getting the food so much quicker!

You still pay the one price for all the food you can eat.

Just returned!

Spent 4 nights at CSR, Friday 1/27-1/31:
I did the on-line check in. I called WDW the day prior to leaving to tell them we would no longer be using Magical Express due to renting a car, so at that time I also told the CM we would like to be in the Cabanas section, since the on-line would not take my request.
Upon arrival to the resort, we were greeted outside by a friendly CM who asked if we did on-line check in, and then promptly walked us inside to the registration area and a CM who was ready to help us finish the process. Either the request worked, or I just got lucky. We were assigned to Cabanas 8A!! The location was quite nice. Very close to parking and the bus stop.
I forgot to mention our arrival time, but it was about 5pm. Everything looked great with our room so, we unpacked just a bit and decided to head off to MK. We thought we would do a test to see which would be quicker to MK, taking the bus or car. My daughter and I took the bus. It took about 5 to 10 minutes for a MK bus to arrive. She and I were the only two on the bus the entire way! WE actually beat my husband and son since they took a wrong turn Even with that, they were only 5 minutes later.
We did not use Pepper Market or Maya Grill, just filled up mugs at Cafe Rix. The resort was pretty as I remember it, our room was VERY quiet at night. I never heard anyone walking by or noise of any sort. Very happy with our stay
