I guess the CFDC is a hard request. I have requested it on Princess and RCCL and never had a problem but I guess I can bring it along too. Actually, I can really do everything the concierge should be able to do for me too (like make excursion ressies/changes). But in that case, what is the point of a concierge in the first place?

Were you asking about Christmas decorations for you cabin? If so then that's a whole 'nother story than what others are referring to when directing you to the website.
I've seen in the past some Christmas things offered in the stateroom gifts sections on the website, but I don't remember decorations being an option just floral items and gifts.

Shoreside concierge will make/change excursion and other reservations for you. Who did you talk to?

I also hope that you noted the lack of service on your comment card and dropped it off before leaving the ship.
Alcoholic drinks are only complimentary at the 2 receptions on the Magic/Wonder.
Yes, please do write them! For all of us cruising after you I wonder if somehow your stateroom didn't get assigned to anyone and somehow you were skipped?? Seems very strange that you were not checked on at all.

Yes, I really need clarification on this too. I read stories like "Concierge surprised us with Mickey Bars", "we asked for berries and he brought them", conc brought us coffee every morning."

Do we tip them at all these times as if it were room service? Or do we not tip them at all until the end of cruise?

We and some friends of ours (not staying in conceirge) were bumped to the front of the line when tendering in Grand Cayman.

As for the pop...we requested additional pop midway through our cruise and then charge for it. When I asked Lynda about it she said refills of cans cost. Ouch!!! Didn't know that and won't make that mistake again!!!

Yes. Tip at end of cruise just like others On Dream Class cocierge takes care of tips, and some feel it's awkward having the cocierge charge their own tips. So some go to guest services, if charging (not cash), and do it themselves.

Ok, thanks. To clarify even further: if we order room service meals, we still do not tip at that time because that is handled by Concierge too? Non-suites on Wonder tip room service, right? But I would not? OR is room service to a suite brought by 'regular' room service staff member, who would not get the tip at end of cruise?

Room service of any kind should be compensated when delivered, especially if staying in suite, IMHO. Every one, even those in non suites, should tip room service deliveries as those CM's are not part of the shared tip pools you tip at end of cruise. Customary, is at least a few dollars, more if you get an entire meal. Most say $2 - $ 4 a plate as an example. Plus there are reports they occasionally keep track of this , and in theory the more you tip the faster/better service you receive. Most take cash for room service tips. They used to bring a slip , and you could add tip to slip and sign. That tip only would be added to your on board account, but nowadays that slip delivery seems random at best. I'm sure if you asked for one, to pay tip I'm sure they would produce one, just ask for one when ordering is my suggestion, and that's my plan.

Room service is brought by the regular room service people. So you tip them normally. The concierge does not bring the meals to your room. The advantage in concierge is that you are able to order room service items from the kitchen that other people are not, basically full breakfast and full menus from the restaurants. If you are in the royal you can order Palo as well.

Namsupak and Bear, thank you both for your patient answers. That clears it up for me!

Namsupak, first of all: LOVE your native land! We've been there 5 years in a row now. Such a lovely place and lovely people!

i dont think your request for a Thai server is strange at all. I think you and your server would both enjoy meeting. I had also considered requesting a chinese, if there is one. Not so much for us, but because I think the server would get a kick out of speaking with my mandarin speaking blond toddler. The locals here love to hear him speak their language. Anyone who has lived as a foreigner in a strange land knows that there is a certain kinship and understanding between others who have done/ are doing the same thing.

Is there a microwave oven in the concierge lounge? DH loves popcorn, but the stuff they sell by the shows just doesnt do it. I was wondering if we brought the Orville bags if they would pop it for him?

Would it be too much to ask concierge to go to the late night dessert buffet and make me a plate and bring it back to my room for me??? LOL I had dreams about this buffet last night, I think because I had read a thread about it yesterday. I just know my kids won't make it that late though.

You know, at first I was going to say that request would have to STAY in your dreams....but knowing some of the concierge team like I have, they just might actually do it! We've had some pretty awesome teams.
