iPad chips for Italy......

We just purchased Italian iPad chips in a TIM store across from our hotel in Milan.

TIM and Vodaphone are competitors.

We paid 29 euros for 5Gigs or 30 days.

John tried to buy chips for everyone, but anyone living outside of Italy needs to show a passport.

If you decide to visit Vodaphone on your own.....bring your passport.

You could also buy 1 gig for 19 euros.

It's 52 degrees and raining in Milan.

John is so thoughtful. And thanks for the very helpful information. Passport and paperclips.

I hope your weather improves.

IMPORTANT - for those looking to get an iPad Sim Card in Italy

Hey Folks

Just an update on the iPad Sim Card procedure in Italy.

You will need to bring your passport to the vodaphone or TIM store to purchase the card. I forgot all about this and when we went to buy ours in Milan today they needed our passports.

Luckily our hotel is right across the street from the store so it was easy to get but the Vodaphone store is a few blocks from the hotel and down a hill. It would suck if you went to this and forgot your passport and had to go back to the hotel.

The TIM card was 19 euro for 1G of data and 29 euro for 5G of data - we got the 5G since we are going to be here before and after the adventure.

So - don't forget your passports if you plan on getting a SIM card before the adventure.

I will be around to help you install it if you need it.

John

I'm such an over packer. I just weighted my suitcase and it is at 49lbs without some of the toiletry type things I need to throw in there. I have a feeling I'm going to be paying an overweight charge tomorrow. oh well, I really can't think of anything I want to remove. I may be able to shift a few things to my carry-on. Going to start moving things around now...

You should check the airline's fees. Often an extra suitcase is cheaper than an overage fee!

That is definitely the way I'm going to go. Thanks for the tip! Throwing just a few of the heavier items in a second bag quickly got the first bag within the weight limit. One day I will learn how to pack more efficiently. I didn't pack enough on the London/Paris trip though and regretted it.

I've been trying to find prices, info about the wireless fees in our hotels. Has anyone found that info?

I will walk with you to the Vodaphone store - but I won't be listening.
