I'm really getting myself prepared to go, this weekend when I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond I discovered they have the best selection of travel size items that I've seen anywhere. Let's just say I stocked up!

I've also downloaded two great albums from iTunes to listen to on the trip:
"Amore" by Andrea Bocelli
"Italia" by Chris Botti

And I downloaded two new books for my Kindle for the trip to read on the plane and at night before going to sleep:
"Top Of The Rock: Inside The Rise and Fall On Must See TV" (behind the scenes of NBC's Thursday night lineup in the 90's). This is right up my alley, my favorite books are about television history.

"Most Talkative: Stories From The Front Lines Of Pop Culture" by Andy Cohen.

This week I also call Verizon about getting a global phone, I hope to get something better than the Blackberry they sent for London & Paris, I could never quite adjust to that phone...I wish the Verizon iPhone 4 worked in Europe.

Jason,

I had the opportunity this week to get my Verizon iPhone 4 upgraded to the 4S, which is supposed to work "worldwide".

I will let you know how that works out.....I am sure there is another ABD world adventure in both of our futures.

Okay...we're down to the last few days before we leave.

The luggage is out, the stuff is dry cleaned, the euros and passports are where they should be, the iPad is updated.....looks like we're ready.

I've been watching the weather and it looks like mid 70s during the day and then mid to high 50's at night. There have been a couple of warmer days into the 80s, but it looks like perfect weather.

If anyone as any questions....now is the time.

Oh yeah...I'll be in chat tomorrow night too!

FYI, folks. This was just released from the FBI about hotel internet.

Quote:
Malware Installed on Travelers’ Laptops Through Software Updates on Hotel Internet Connections

05/08/12—Recent analysis from the FBI and other government agencies demonstrates that malicious actors are targeting travelers abroad through pop-up windows while they are establishing an Internet connection in their hotel rooms.

Recently, there have been instances of travelers’ laptops being infected with malicious software while using hotel Internet connections. In these instances, the traveler was attempting to set up the hotel room Internet connection and was presented with a pop-up window notifying the user to update a widely used software product. If the user clicked to accept and install the update, malicious software was installed on the laptop. The pop-up window appeared to be offering a routine update to a legitimate software product for which updates are frequently available.

The FBI recommends that all government, private industry, and academic personnel who travel abroad take extra caution before updating software products through their hotel Internet connection. Checking the author or digital certificate of any prompted update to see if it corresponds to the software vendor may reveal an attempted attack. The FBI also recommends that travelers perform software updates on laptops immediately before traveling, and that they download software updates directly from the software vendor’s website if updates are necessary while abroad.

Anyone who believes they have been a target of this type of attack should immediately contact their local FBI office and promptly report it to the IC3’s website at www.IC3.gov. The IC3’s complaint database links complaints together to refer them to the appropriate law enforcement agency for case consideration. The complaint information is also used to identify emerging trends and patterns.

It's not the pace of life than concerns me... it's the sudden stop at the end.

I adore BB&B. I used to go crazy trying to find all the stuff I wanted in travel-sizes. Now it's just a one stop shopping spree.
I also found our Passport wallets there and have just purchased pillows for the airplane.

I have a feeling we'll all be traveling as a group again. There's nothing like traveling with friends

Just as a PSA (and since Time is the boss of you), you barely have time to visit Geir:

If I had the opportunity to suggest another Andrea Bocelli song(not on that album) it would be Con Te Partiro -loosely translated, would mean "with you I will go/leave(anywhere)". One of his best and not a bad theme for an ABD trip if I say so myself.

I have this song by Bocelli. It's a duet with Sarah Brightman and it's called "Time to Say Goodbye".

They used this song several times in the HBO series "The Sopranos".

I can't wait until November, at that point in my contract I can upgrade to a 4S...for future world adventures! On this trip I'll probably have a Blackberry in one pocket for phone calls and my iPhone 4 in the other pocket to use as a camera, iPod and anywhere WiFi might be available.

I always come out of BB&B with more than I planned to get, you never know what you'll find. I'm addicted to the Yankee Candle car air fresheners, this Saturday I bought enough of them to last me for a couple of years.

Yes ...although I much prefer the original even though I love Sarah Brightman. When they came out with Time to Say Goodbye it gave the impression that the lovers were parting -which in my opinion wasn't the original intention in the Italian version. They are the sun and the moon, and in each others hearts forever -looking to experience the same things in the next life. But either way it's a great song. Hope you all have a wonderful trip -I'll be thinking of those green Tuscan Hills ....Wow!!
