Marco and Heidi will be our guides.

The "on your own" day in Florence is a go.

You will have your choice of a day at the resort in Tuscany or a day on your own in Florence.

The bus will make one trip in in the morning and one trip out later in the day.

This will happen on the "quiet day". We don't have details such as timing or whether this will interfere with the BBQ.

These details probably will not be available until we get to Italy.

It's not the pace of life than concerns me... it's the sudden stop at the end.

I'm thrilled to hear about Marco. He was one of our guides last September.
He is wonderful.

Fingers crossed that Tina will be the second guide. She and Marco were quite the team

Love to know the guides in advance. Helps with scrapping tip envelopes you know

Glad to hear the extra time in Florence idea is panning out.

Why is Jack buying a map to Switzerland???? It's the only thing I could see when I was finally able to get into chat.

And lastly, what do you do when your friend tells you the name they've decided on for their baby, and you hate it? My friend, Jamie, tells me the name, and I say, oh, wow, you've decided? Really?! So soon? That's awesome. You have like eight months left though maybe leave the door open in case something else occurs to you. I think that was a pretty good cover with some back stepping. Cause here's how it went down to start with slightly paraphrased.

J: We picked our baby's name!
Me: Really? That was fast. Awesome.
J: We're going with a gemstone name.
Me: Yeah?
J: Obsidian.
Me: What's that?
J: Obsidian
Me: Are you saying obscene?
J: Obsidian
Me: (Now I start to cotton on) I think my cell phone is getting funky. Maybe I should go outside. Did you say Obsidian?
J: Yeah, we've picked Obsidian.

Obsidian? Really? REALLY?

Plus, I actually used the word obscene in connection to one of my best friends' baby. Oooppsss. Bad Auntie Lala for sure. As BFF to the future mommy I understand my role to be that of supporter with limited opinions. But I think anyone could get thrown by Obsidian.

Here's my nephew, Obsidian. Obsidian come meet Micky Mouse.

I so hope it's a girl. You can't name a girl Obsidian. Can you?

We are doing an OYO in the Jungfrau region before returning to reality via Geneva. I have a number of electronic maps but i would like a paper map as a backup. It is surprisingly difficult to find one online.

This leaves room for a continuation of the theme.....

Tanzanite
Topaz
Aventurine
Heliodore
Iolite
Tourmaline

and my absolute favorite

Lapis Lazuli

I would casually ask her if she started a college fund or started putting away bail money, as little Obsidian is in for a rough road.

OK, this is a little obscure, but this was the first thing that popped in my mind.

Same here. The poor kid's nick-name will be either Garak or Cardaissian and I wouldn't inflict the latter on anyone.
