Aww, you're so lucky... squirrels run from me!

Love the pics of your daughter and the characters, she's so cute. The hats cool as well!

Thanks!

What's wrong with the bus stop?? It's perfectly centred, bright, vibrant colours, clear.....yeah ok....it's a bus stop....give it up Claire....

I think she'd probably have seen breathing in as an advantage: more icing quicker....

Parents eves are done and gone thanks for asking. I too had parents eve with DD's teacher - very strange being on the other side of the table!!
Make sure your DH knows that tea and coffee making on parents' eves is an invaluable service - good work!!

Thank you - DD is decidedly photogenic - we're not sure where she gets it from. As DH says - DD is the proof that 2 wrongs do make a right

Those are two of my fave photos from the trip

Having been to WDW pre child and with child, it's just such a different experience - both fantastic of course, but there's something about that naivity and how it responds to the MAGIC that is amazing!

Again...what's wrong with the bus....nah seriously, thanks for the lovely comments re DD - we adore her - very cute and hilariously funny!

Thank you!. I think we'd seen Thumper on our last trip, but Miss Bunny (clearly thought about that name for a long time....) was new for us too - DD loved Miss Bunny.

I clearly have squirrel magnetism....now should I be proud of that?! Thanks for lovely comments re DD The hat was the star of our trip - I seriously should have kept a tally of how many comments were made about the hat!!

Day 6 Part 2: Now you see her...now you don't...

Half way through Animal Kingdom...so...

Once we had seen numerous large rabbits we headed over to the Festival of the Lion King. Now, I know this is many people's favourite show in AK and while I do think it's great fun and well performed, my loyalties lie more with Nemo...sorry - perhaps it's to do with my general affinity with fish (when I was little, all I wanted to do was be a fishmonger...all the other girls wanted to be princesses and nurses...me...wet fish!!!) Anyway, the point being, I do enjoy FOTLK but Nemo is my preference.

Photobucket

Strangely enough we ended up in the elephant section again. DH was absolutely insistent that he was not, under any circumstances, going to sit on the end of the row. When we came to see FOTLK in 2009, he made the school boy error of being on the end of the row and before he knew it he'd been plucked from his seat by the big chieftain guy and was being encouraged to do elephant impersonations in front of a massive, eagerly-awaiting audience. My goodness, how I laughed!!!
Much to DH's relief, he was not picked on this occasion. Oh no...it was a girl called Megan - she was AMAZING at being an elephant...I mean AMAZING...anyone would think she'd been practising...I was in awe of her elephantness - and I mean purely in a noise-related way...
We all really enjoyed the tumble monkeys although DD was slightly freaked out when one crept past her and tapped her on the head She also got a little bit worried during 'Be Prepared' as she wasn't sure that Timon was ok: "What did Timon do wrong?" -we had to reassure her that he was acutally ok! DH also saw a funny moment when the enormous fire-eating guy walked up to one of the guests on the front row who happened to be looking in the opposite direction. He just stood really really close until she turned....at which point she jumped a million miles - bwah hah hah hah!

Photobucket

Following FOTLK, we headed out to Asia to get FPs for Kali River Rapids - I looove this ride and was very excited that DD was going to be tall enough to ride In 2009 when we rode I was in THE SEAT - the one which meant I was totally drenched when I got out of the raft - so much so that I was ringing my shorts out for a goodly time afterwards - you don't do that in England - not unless you want hypothermia. The return time wasn't until 3.20 so we had plenty of time to kill before then - shame!

We had an ADR at Tusker House for lunch - on reviews this gets a lot of schtick but we couldn 't work out why. On the way there we had some serious luck as we ran into this lady:

7.8.11

What, you say? You can't see anything...sorry...I mean this one....

7.8.11

There were lots of people walking straight past thinking we were idiots for staying here....

7.8.11

There she is.... brilliant!

7.8.11

De Vine! Fantastic - she was so elegant - incredible considering she was on stilts and convered in...oh yeah....vines....I love many things about this, not least the fact that the Cast Member (originally typed that as Cat Member - an entirely different thing...crikey) assigned to her had to spend a vast amount of his time looking into plants....I'd also love to see what it says on her CV.... '2011, WDW, Plant on stilts'

So, after that brief diversion, we made our way to Tusker House. It was tasty and varied and DD loved having the little low section which meant she could help herself (with only one or two spillages )

7.8.11

So, full up of Tusker House buffet, we went over to the Pangani Forest Trail. We love all the walking exhibits in AK - it's so different from the other parks.

Ooooh, ooooh, guess what...it's time for....

Photobucket

Ta da! I said there was a theme...

So, we strolled around (although it was getting rather hot) snapping a few pics as we went...

Photobucket

And yes of course....

Photobucket

I love these nests...

Photobucket

I got a little bit obsessed with taking pics of fish (hmmm...that wasn't intentional) and I particularly liked these two...

Then it was on to the hippos...

Photobucket

and just so I don't let everyone down...

Photobucket

We also saw lots of Meerkats. Hello!

7.8.11

and gorillas (thankfully DD didn't lick this enclosure )

Photobucket

Last time we saw the gorillas at AK I severely disappointed DH by gasping with excitement and shouting "Look! A rabbit!" Doh!!

We spotted devine last trip. When we got home we couldn't work out why we'd taken a photo of a bush. Luckily DH remembered after a while.

Just wanted to say that I love your updates!

I couldn't get my BIL, SIL and nieces moving very early the day we went to AK so we didn't get to see very much of it. Didn't get to see the Lion King so it's still on my to do list for next time. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Love the pictures of De Vine, what luck you had!

Your DD is just so precious in the picture with Simba! That picture just melted my heart. We've never seen Thumper or Ms. Bunny. I'll have to add them to my must find list for our next trip. The pictures with Chip and Dale are fun. Some characters seem to interact more than others and C&D always seem to mess around with the kids. I love the picture of the bus stop . . . err, I mean your DD in her hat. You can see the joy and fun she is having. I pictures like that!

Yup - I think we might have been in that very same situation had there not been a visible CM. I'm not sure why exactly we'd heard of De Vine but thankfully we had and didn't just walk past!!

Thank you - I'm enjoying writing them!

FOTLK is definitely worth seeing - some amazing acrobatics and singing - although not necessarily the same people doing both...hmmm

We loved seeing De Vine - she was fab.

Thanks for comments re DD - she really went for the whole idea of posing with an imaginary 'thing' - we love that photo. I agree about certain characters interacting more - the chipmunks are menaces! Goofy is usually a good bet for fun interaction as well.

FINALLY...someone who appreciates a photo of a bus st....hat....

Remember Me??!! A quick explanation...

Hi!

I don't know if anyone has the inclination to carry on reading this report given the length of intermission everyone has faced, but I would really like to complete it, as the trip was such a magical time and I really enjoyed writing the beginning of the report - particularly liking the very complimentary comments from everyone reading

Anyway, this is entitled 'Remember Me??!! A quick explanation...' for a reason. I have been lurking back on the boards for a few weeks now, reading reports and looking at photos etc - thoroughly enjoying re-acquainting myself with the Dis. The lurking was followed by my recapping what I had already written in this report. I noticed I had already had to make a couple of apologies due to my slackness in writing installments... Ok, this is the apology of all apologies. I have had an absolute shocker of a last few months. Shortly after my last post, DH and I went to New York for a week on our own - yes leaving DD with nanny and grandi - we had a wonderful first 2 and a half days before I went and broke my foot . Having been to NY as part of our honeymoon, DH had commented pre-trip that it would be good to see other parts of NY that we had not previously seen - I think, perhaps, he was not referring to ER .... and let me tell you GEORGE CLOONEY IS NOT THERE.... believe me I looked...

So, with leg and foot strapped up, we worked out how we were going to manage the last four days - the hotel were kind enough to offer us a wheelchair - so we thought it was all going to be possible... that was until I got food poisoning on the same night I'd broken my foot - oh good grief.... It was ridiculous (and that's putting it politely) - my DH is possibly the most patient man on the planet....

The following morning we were due to do a walking, food tour of NY - something we'd really looked forward to - now was that going to happen??? Walking.... nah.....Food.....nah. It was a bit of a downer to say the least.

On return to the UK I was put in plaster for 7 weeks (boo hiss - although I did get a choice of colour and was able to join DD in the land of pink for a while ) During this time I continued to work but it was quite frankly arduous.

Anyway, to cut a VERY long story short, everything went wrong at work (not due to my broken foot I hasten to add...) and I ended up resigning and then being signed off sick. Shocking end to 13 years of service in one school Consequently, everything else kind of went out of the window...sorry

I am more sad because the TR was something I was really really enjoying and everything else got in its way.

So...if you're all happy for a bit of a resurrection, then I'm more than happy to give it a go...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you are all patient people and really want to see more pictures of....bus stops????!!! No seriously, I promise, no bus stops....

Day 6 Part 3 to follow shortly...

Hi again! Life happens and sometimes the daily stuff gets in the way of the fun stuff. for your mishaps in NY. That is one of the places on my list to visit one day. Really sorry to hear about your misfortunes at work. 13 years is a long time in one place nowadays. I feel your pain with this as I was let go in 2009 after 17 years with the same company. All because I didn't have, shall we say, "the right parts". I had the last laugh though because the person they kept over me ran the business into the ground and they ended up firing him too. And I ended up working at a job I absolutely love most days and have greater flexibility in my work hours. It may not seem like it right now, but I am certain that you will end up in a better place eventually.

If you want to continue your TR, I will be here to read about every moment of your time at WDW. As I said before, I absolutely love your style. And your pictures of bus stops.

You're not wrong - life certainly does get in the way at times - how dare it

NY is fab - definitely to be avoided in a wheelchair although it's always interesting to see a different view point...I think we'll try to go again at some point but DH is currently debating whether or not I should be allowed on any more holidays given that I seem determined to scupper them medically in some way

I too think that things happen for a reason and although it may take a while to realise what the reason is...it'll become obvious at some point - as long as you put the work in, the right thing will happen. Just have to get something lined up for September now....

Thanks for persevering with me - think I won't try and rush it but pootle along at a manageable rate. Glad you're up for a few more bus stops....

Welcome Back!!

I'm up for more too!!

Loved reading your report so far, and had been wondering if you were OK, and what had happened...

So sorry to hear you've been through the wars in so many ways
Sending you lots of pixie dust that everything works out - and better than before! You know what they say... There is no need for revenge, Karma will sort everything out, and if you're lucky, you'll even get to watch

Bring on the bus-stop photos!!!
