As for where to stop it totally depends on you. I have made it alone all the way to md for the night. Mostly we leave at dinner time and drive through to ga the next day. Spend the night and then the last few hours in the morning ready to hit the parks for lunch.
Thanks for your help!

Another alternate:

I-84 west thru Connecticut, New York and into Pennsylvania.

At Scranton, Pa hop onto I-81 south thru Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and into Tennessee.

Once in Tennessee, get onto I-26 east thru Tennessee, North Carolina, and into South Carolina.

East of Columbia, SC (SE actually) you will pick up I-95 just north of St. George.

We leave from PA and the route that we like is 81-77-26-95, the same route NJRRK gave you. We prefer that over 95 all the way. The only part that puts me to sleep (I'm not driving) is the 4 hrs we spend in VA on 81.

Thanks for the advice about the drive/shorter stay.

Well, we decided to cut our Disney stay short one night (now 5 nights) so we can stay at SSR and we are stopping at Savannah on the way home for a night. Breaks up the drive home, if just a bit. We never drive straight through anyway so this will be our overnighter.

We used to drive a lot when I was a kid vs. flying and NC was usually our stopping point, sometimes VA, on the way home. Generally, though, we would leave the the afternoon/ evening and drive straight through.

As far as the route, I think it depends on where in MA you are coming from. We are all the way on the east coast of MA, so we do start out on 95 through MA, RI and CT.
When I drove in April, I got a trip tik from AAA and it suggested 95 most of the way - except for:
around NY city
through NJ
around DC

It's almost 9:20 on a Sunday morning. Relatively early as the sun starts its climb in the sky. It's 11-degrees here at the Jersey Shore and 61-degrees at Disney World. Ah, to be driving right now on World Drive.

All the best.

I think for our very first drive in 96 we took that route. That's good, too.

i use 81/66/17/95 in the winter months and use 81/77/26/95 in the "no chance of snow" months. you get up in the mountains on 81/77 in the winter and it starts to snow, it can get real fun real fast. been there, done that. dw and i spent the night in the car back in the 80s at whites truck stop on 81.
if you take 81/77 in the winter, keep a close ear on the weather.
