The Dis Diva's Girl's Only Trip is schedule for February 23-27, 2012. This will be my 2nd trip with these wonderful ladies & I'm looking forward to getting together with them again for a fun weekend of parties, scavenger hunts, group rides & delicious meals!!! So a little more on the Diva Trip!!
The ladies arrive thru-out the day on Thursday. For those in the parks early enough, we will meet up for lunch at one of the counter service restaurants. Our Meet-n-Greet Party is Thursday evening. It will be held at the Carousel Inn & Suites in their breakfast room. It's a nice big room with large windows facing the park. I am again on the M&G committee & will be in charge of the snack table, snack bags & name tags. I had a blast doing this in March. Here's a few pics from that     As you can see there was plenty of goodies to choose from on the snack table!!! We also have Quizno's cater the meal.....so food, snacks & drinks.....great way to get to know one another. Every year they've done an exchange of some kind & this past year was picture frames. This years exchange will be anything to do with Villians!! Our theme for this year is: Dis Diva's Twilight Zone Party of Peril!!! Should be interesting to see how many dress up & what the room will look like all decked out in cobwebs, black & candleabras!!!! On Friday, we usually do the Princess Fantasy Faire as a group & maybe a meal &/or a nighttime show. I think this year we're going to try the Dessert Seating for Fantasmic. We tried this in March, but they had issues with the rails for the Columbia & the show was cancelled. On Saturday is the big Scavenger Hunt!!! This year's theme is: Dis Diva's Amazing I Spy Race!!!! The committee gave hints at the theme & I guessed correctly!!!! I heard there was a prize for doing that!! Saturday is also the day we do the group photo in front of the castle. On Sunday we'll try for another group photo & maybe another meal. Monday for anyone still around, one last group meal will be planned. So does that sound like fun???? Are you interested in joining us??? This is open to all women 18 & over!!!! Yay! So glad you started a new report! I would so love to do the Divas trip! Just no way I can justify the expense of going across country without it being a family trip! Can't we just win the lottery already!

So I realized I didn't introduce myself in the first post. So here goes!!
My name's Laurie, I'm 48, married 27 yrs & mother to 7 kids!!! Now before you panic......I gave birth to 3 of them & then adopted the other 4. All 4 kids had been in our home as foster children & we couldn't let them go.  I'm a stay at home mom. My 3 older boys are 26, 24 & 22. The 24 yr old moved out for a month & then just moved back. Trying to find work & paying your own way, just didn't work out. It's ok with me.......he's a great help around the house & with the younger kids. It also allows me to get out occassionally & brings a 2nd car to the house. The 4 younger kids are 10 yr old boy, 6 yr old girl & twin 4 yr old girls. Each kid came to us as a baby but also came with a number of issues due to the biological moms using drugs. The 10 yr old is A.D.D., has Reactive Attachment Disorder & Anxiety. The 6 yr old is A.D.D., has Separation Anxiety & Anxiety. The twins have a genetic condition, health issues & are on the autism spectrum. One twin also has Pierre Robin Sequence & g-tube fed. So as you can see....I keep extremely busy!! My love of Disney came when I was about 5 yrs old & my family went for our first trip!! We went again when I was about 9 or 10. I didn't get to return until we did a one day stop the summer after we were married. Our house always had remnants of that Disney love from sheets, blankets, t-shirts, pajamas, stuffed animals, etc. We couldn't afford to take our 3 boys when they were younger & I always felt bad. In 2005, the 50th Anniversary, my mother-in-law took our family to Disneyland!!!! I wish I knew then, what I do now......that trip was hot & crowded. We were there over the 4th of July! This trip really stirred the pot & I couldn't wait to go back. I was not alone in this feeling.....everyone was hooked! It took 3 more yrs to get back, but we made it! This was 2008 during spring break & then again for spring break 2009. We made a quickie trip after our 2009 vacation for my hubby to interview with Disneyland. Unfortunately, he didn't GET to interview. They first have you do a computerized test. We figure because he didn't form strong opinions on the answers that is what caused him to fail. Since he didn't pass the test, they didn't interview him.  In 2010, my mother-in-law again helped pay for part of our trip, as 10 of us (all 7 of my kids) went back to Disneyland in the summer. It was really neat getting to go with all my kids at the same time....since this hadn't happened as we continued to add to our family.In March 2011, I got to go on my first Dis Diva trip!! To be honest, I was so excited to finally be going, as I had been following along on the thread for over 2 yrs & friended most of them on Facebook. When I got there, I was miserable......I hadn't been away from the kids & hubby before & was feeling guilty, homesick, lonely, etc. My hubby joined me at the end of the girls trip & we got to celebrate our 27th anniversary at the parks as a couple. Now......THAT WAS FUN!!!! I was still homesick & missing the kids, but it was so much fun getting to do what we wanted, when we wanted....a real freedom!!! Both hubby & I kept going....oh, the kids would have loved that.....lol Which somewhat catches you all up!! Our family trip was planned for the first week of October this year. We were looking forward to seeing the Halloween stuff & going to the Mickey's Trick or Treat parties. We are expecting a very large adoption credit from the IRS. We were told to expect it about 4 mths out. Week 16 arrived & we received a letter stating that H&R Block had missed putting ONE form into our amended return, that it was rejected & we'd have to resubmit the whole thing. That means, no money, no trip. We were all devistated by this news. Resubmitting our claim means another 8-12 wks before we'll see the money. I've had a day or two to let this all settle & have decided if the trip was meant to be.....we'd be going, but obviously going in October was not in the cards. So now I'm looking to the Dis Diva's trip in February 2012 & strongly thinking we'll be tacking on our family vacation at the conclusion of that weekend. So what am I saying??????? New Dates for the family trip are: Feb 26 to Mar 3 !!!!!!  Let the planning commence!!!!!!PS: If by some miracle, our money reaches me before the middle of Sept. we will still go in October. I refuse to cancel my ressies until I know it's a done deal........lol
