Summer weather for Italy and Greece
For anyone who has been to Italy or Greece in the summer....how was the weather? I read the FAQ and know it says 90's, but is it that terrible humid hot like Orlando, or is it less oppressive? I really don't like to feel overheated like I did last month in Orlando. Makes me cranky!!

It is hot and humid! If you are intolerant with that type of weather, it is probably a good idea to visit those places in spring or early fall. We only get to travel in the summer because of school and the heat can be quite challenging to some.

I was in Italy from mid-to-late May, and the weather was not bad yet.

I would love to go during a different season, but looking at the scheduled dates, I dont see anything that wouldnt interfere with school other than July and August. I really hate to be hot! Maybe London or Ireland instead

Our intent is to try and avoid London next summer with the Olympics there.

I was in Italy/Greece from 8/9-8/23. I wore black cotton capris and a cotton sleeveless shirt every day (I took a scarf in my bag for my shoulders in churches). DH wore long shorts and polo golf shirt. We were hot at times, but not too bad--and nothing like WDW in summer. I did take a small umbrella, which I used as a shade umbrella all the time. It was 100+ several days in Greece--but not nearly as humid as WDW in Aug. It was the only time we could go--so we did--and we had a great time. We have also gone in mid-late Sept.--much prefer that weather, but with kids in school, not an option. Elaine

While it is probably not as oppressive as Orlando, just remember that AC's in Europe are not all that common -you can find relief in Orlando, not so easy in Europe.

Both are hot and humid! you'd better change the time to spring or early. I think that would be a good choose

I agree - Greece seemed to be very hot in July. Depending on what you do - so much is outdoors, walking through ruins without any shade. I loved it - but I live in South Texas and the 90's seem cool to me

I agree with this. I lived in Northern Italy and there was no relief there either. And I had to live without an AC, just fans in every room. We drank a lot of water and tea (just like Florida!). I really preferred the spring and fall weather there. I think southern Italy in the summer is like Florida weather.

Have been to both Italy (north & south) and Greece--Athens and many islands--and it is INCREDIBLY hot and humid. Do yourself a favor and go in the spring or fall.

I'll echo this, though it depends on where you're from and what you're used to. New Orleans or DC can be no picknic in August... but if you can make it there

I've been there in the summertime and it was gorgeous! I wore sundresses most days and was so comfortable. I feel like the mornings were even a bit chilly in parts of Italy.... but that's just me and I get cold often.
