Project 1-

My entry this week is inspired by the Garden Grill restaurant at Epcot featuring Chip and Dale.

The new technique I incorporated is called decoupage, which I have never tried before. I cut out small pieces of fabric and then sewed them on with a zigzag stitch about a quarter inch from the edge. I then washed the jeans to cause the fabric to fray and give a raggy look to the edges of the fabrics.

Project 2

This outfit is inspired by Les Chefs de France which features appearances by Remy from Ratatouille. Fabrics are traditional French with the Eiffel Tower and Harlequin pattern. And Remy, himself, is embroidered onto a reversible, removable apron. This is a four piece set with an underblouse featuring shirring at the neckline and sleeves, an overblouse with shirring at the neckline and empire waist, along with shirred straps, double ruffled pants, and the aforementioned apron.

Shirring is the sewing method I tried that I have never done before. This involves sewing with elastic thread to get the runched, gathered shirred effect.

Front views of the outfit:

The side and back:

Here's Remy:

A rat pose (can you see the cat sneaking up on the rat?):

The apron reverses to an applique of the Eiffel Tower for when dining upstairs at Bistro de Paris:

And the outfit shown without the apron:

And this is the required up close photo of the shirring ~ you can see how the fabric is gathered by parallel rows of elastic sewn over the fabric:

Project 3

I ended up with several new techniques on this one, thanks to a new machine, but the one I set out to try was machine shirring on the back of a simply sweet halter/tiered twirl skirt Frankenpattern with an apron based on CarlaC's bow sash.

Inspired by Chef Mickey's -

Close up of the shirring and my first rolled hem.

Project 4

Here is my submission for this weeks PR. I made a Feliz, this is only my second time ever making this pattern. My daughter will be wearing this to Akershus for the Princess Storybook Dining where Belle makes an appearance.

This is the first time I did a few things.... one, the first time I embroidered the side panels of the dress. Two, I used ribbon on top of the raw edge on the ruffles, and lastly, I hemmed the ruffles different then I have before. I serged the edge, then folded the fabric up past the serging line and then stitched it down. Pretty simple to most, but I haven't had my serger for very long, so it was a new technique to me

Project 5

This week I was inspired by Chefs de France and Remy making his appearance during dinner. Remy is hand embroidered for a unique look on the shirt holding a spoon which he used to make Ratatouille. On the matching polka dot skirt is Emile eating cheese! Both of these little guys were so fun to make.

My new to me item was a challenge, more so a challenge to figure out something new that I could tie in with the outfit. I went with a yo yo. I had bought 3 disks to aid me in making them almost 2 years ago and never bothered to take any out of the package yet. So, I took the smallest, thinking I didn't want anything too big and started to read the directions. It was very easy and straight forward although I am not so sure mine turned out that great. I made it so it was removable a plus for some since as a kid I would have NEVER worn anything with a yoyo on it! LOL!

Darn. I couldn't figure out a way to vote for two of them.

Some of you have a vast amount of patience. Great jobs!
