It was fun, and now I realize we barely did any of it! We just didn't have time to visit the adult pools or lounge areas, the spa, the movie theater, or participate in family activity time like bingo or trivia games. There was way more than could be done in a 3-night cruise, especially when you spend time off the ship at different ports of call.

One night, the cruise director mentioned that they were showing first-run movies on the ship (like Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, etc.). He said they were the only ship who has the ability to do that because THEY OWN THOSE MOVIES! It's really true that Disney cruises have much more to offer than other ships--all the characters, Disney movies, ABC and ESPN programming on your stateroom TV, etc. It was quite an experience!

Great TR!! How did your 2 year old find the activites? Was she able to swim in the pool or did you take her to the splash pad? Our DD will be 21 months, so not potty trained and will only be able to do the splash pad. I'm afraid we will get some questions as to why she can't go in the pool. Since your older DD was obviously able to, did you have issues? Was your too cute two year old in the nursery at all? If so, how did she and you like it? Your TR is getting me even more excited for our sailing in 11 weeks and 3 days! Not that I'm counting...

Thanks, and welcome to this thread!

Thankfully, our two year old turns three this month, so we were able to get her potty trained in advance of the trip. However, even though she was allowed in the pools, both of our girls actually preferred the splash pad and spent most of their time there (the pools got crowded at times).

We never got a chance to put our youngest in the nursery or in the kids club. Since she was almost three, potty trained, and had an older sibling in the kids club, we could have received manager approval to put her in the older club. However, it just never worked out time-wise to drop her off at either location. We did put our oldest daughter in the kids club twice (late at night), but it was just easier to keep the youngest one with us. If you wanted to use the nursery, you can always have your child test it out for an hour or so. They will call you on your wave phone (the portable wireless phone you get in your room), if they need to contact you.

Your (almost) two year old will have a great time. They have family lounges, movies on deck, movies in the theater, movies in your room, character greeting opportunities, deck parties, etc. There will be more than enough to keep her occupied and content! Also, at dinner, they are good with getting the kids meals underway while the adults take too long deciding what to order!

Waking Up in Nassau, Bahamas!

Friday, September 2nd

8:30am-12pm

It was about 8:30am when we started pulling into Nassau. Since we had a stateroom at the very back of the ship, it was interesting to watch the ship pull in backwards! We initially approached head-on, but once we entered the harbor area, the captain swung the ship around 180 degrees. We were the first ship in port, so I wondered if he would have attempted that move with another ship docked there!

We finished watching the ship dock around 9am and started showering and getting dressed for the day. We then went to have breakfast at Cabanas (before it closes at 10:30am). After breakfast, we went back to the room to pack our things for Nassau. It was around 11:45am when we met with the rest of our party and started disembarking the ship. After taking some pictures outside the ship, we were on our way to the city of Nassau around noon!

The boat is extremely impressive, not only in size, but in style. I love the exterior design, from the color scheme to the placement of stateroom windows and balconies. It really makes you marvel at the genius of Disney imagineering and engineering!

Exploring Nassau

Friday, September 2nd

12pm-2:30pm

We did not have a plan for touring Nassau, although we did have two goals--one was to see Atlantis and the other was to get our passports stamped. We passed on formal excursions because we didn't want to have a forced itinerary. After getting off the ship, we walked down the pathway that leads to a brightly colored building. The building, which contains various shops and market stands, passes you through to the city. All around the building, you are continually offered rides, merchandise, and other services like hair braiding. We politely declined and offered warm smiles and continued walking. Surprisingly, each of the Bahamian individuals offering rides or tours did not question us further and simply offered a sincere, "Please enjoy your stay in Nassau." The merchandise salespeople were a little more pressing, often placing toys in our children's hands before we would even notice. Even so, we politely declined and kept moving forward.

View of the Brightly Colored Building from the Dock

Once we had exited the building, we had a quick huddle and decided to take the water ferry over to Atlantis. The ferries are situated to the right and charged $3 per person, except for the two 2-year olds in our group. We purchased a one-way ticket and waited approximately half an hour for the boat to leave. The boat then took another 15 minutes or so to arrive at Atlantis. If you take the ferry, do not purchase a round-trip ticket (which is non-refundable), in case you decide to travel differently on the way back.

View of Our Ride on the Water Ferry

After getting off the ferry, we walked about 10 minutes to the Atlantis resort area. Atlantis has an outside shopping and dining district called Marina Village, which felt very "American." It had restaurants such as Johnny Rockets and we sat down for smoothies at Jamba Juice. It felt safer, cleaner, and more at home here, especially since there was no peddling of wares as in the manner of the dock market. Both inside and outside Atlantis, there are also major shopping labels such as Dooney & Bourke and Versace.

Once inside the Atlantis resort, the primary areas we were allowed access to were the Casino and the shops. There were podiums both inside and outside the resort that checked visitors for hotel wristbands. Since we weren't hotel guests, our access was very limited. I was disappointed that we weren't able to peek at their waterslides and aquarium, but it was understandable. I had read that if you arrive at Atlantis first thing in the morning, you may be able to tour the area before they start checking for wristbands. Either way, don't get your heart set on seeing the bulk of Atlantis without purchasing an excursion or day pass!

After seeing all we could see, we decided to take a taxi back to the port from Atlantis. The taxi cost us $4 per person and we were able to negotiate not paying for the two youngest children. Once we arrived back at the brightly colored dock building, our next goal was to get our passports stamped. When looking at the building from the street, there is a guardhouse on the right which permits access to the Customs building next door. Simply tell the guard that you want your passports stamped and he will direct you accordingly. The guard was very friendly and cheerfully funny. After getting our passports stamped, we were on our way back to the ship by 2:30pm!
