DCL just announced earlier this week they cancelled the last 4 Dec. 2012 MR cruises. There will only be 1 Dec. 2012 MR sailing, 12/2/12.
Jill.... I need to get my magnets for my 1/29/12 cruise.
I got it. My Christmas present from the DIS?

I have read through this entire thread and am feeling the excitement with all of you about where the Magic and Wonder will go in 2013...We also just went ahead and booked an Eastern on the Fantasy for November 13 while prices *seemed* low. I guess if we want to hop on board the Magic or Wonder we can switch it...if we get priced out of those trips (Airfare to Europe? WOW!) then we still have something to look forward to as we've never been to St. Maarten and absolutely LOVE St. John USVI.

I got the idea to book so far ahead from this thread but I am curious how much higher would you think the prices would be if we booked this time next year or 6 months prior to the November 2013 cruise? I mean are we saving a ton this way?
Rising prices with DCL is an unknown variable but almost sure to happen in most cases. It could depend on how long the itinerary has been available since it was released (18+ months in some cases), the popularity of some itineraries and of course the dates you're looking at. As one example I can tell you that we booked our Med cruise that we just did this past August right when they were first released (fall 2009 in this case). Prices held steady for several months then about a year out from the cruise date (Aug. 2010 for a sail date of Aug. 2011) they went up pretty significantly. Our 5C cabin (for 3 people) went up by about $1,200 and the pricing held at that rate until our sail date. I consider $1,200 a pretty good chunk of change and was glad we were booked way early. I've been hanging out here on the DIS for several years now & have seen several of the rare & more popular cruises (like the Panama Canal crossings & Hawaii) sell out completely within a day - when they sell fast like that the prices rise hourly as it's all supply & demand!!

Thanks for this info. I definitely consider $1200 worth saving by planning ahead! I am sure by the time we finish our Candian cruise this summer that we'll be hooked and glad we pre-booked for the next year.

Book it now and once you're onboard, ask the cm at the Future Cruise Desk to reprice it for you. An onboard booking gives cruisers a 10% discount (pre tax) plus an onboard credit from DCL which varies with length of the future cruise, $200 for a 7nt. This can be combined with any OBC that a TA offers. If you use a TA that offers OBC, be sure to name him/her as your TA while booking onboard to get max OBCs. Once you leave the ship and later transfer to a TA, the OBC is much lower. This is because a 'transfer' means lower commission for the TA.
If the price of your 2013 price has gone up significantly, enough that you still don't save $ even with the discount, you still have the best deal you could get.

Thanks for explaining this process to me...I definitely wouldn't have known to get a TA ahead of time...are there national places you recommend or should I just look locally?

I really appreciate the help!

Our local AAA office was awful. I knew more than she did just from reading here. She never knew/mentioned the OBC and made me drive to their office to pick up my documents. Not a big deal but I work weekdays and they have very limited Sat. hours. I later found out they could have had DCL send them directly to my house.

I would only use a TA that is very knowledgeable about DCL. If you don't know of any, I'd contact someone from Dreams Unlimited (sponsor of these boards). I've never used them personally but many here do. It's somewhere to start.

I find this from a travel agency:

Quote:
Disney Magic Mediterranean Cruises in June 2013:

As dawn breaks over the eastern bow, you will wake to greet the ancient lands that mark the birthplace of western civilization - Greece, Turkey, Italy and the former Soviet countries that border the Black Sea. From the marble pillars of the Greek temples in ancient Athens, where one can still hear the rumbling thunder that marked Zeus' roar; to the enchanting Isle of Mykonos, immortalized by the elusive oral historian and poet, Homer; the mystical and exotic city of Istanbul which bridges two continents; and the splendor and pageantry of the Black Sea. Voyages to the Greek Isles and Black Sea will awaken your spirit of adventure.

Do you love the unbridled romance of Italy? Then, savor a late afternoon in Venice's magnificent St. Mark's Square, which Napoleon once called "Europe's greatest drawing room." Or behold the breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples from cliff-top, pastel-colored Positano, where our ships often spend the night. If you're a Francophile, bask in the glamour of Monaco on the sun-splashed French Riviera, wander Provence's genteel countryside, and shop for timeless treasures in Bonifacio, Corsica's famed "antique city". The Mediterranean unleashes a land of gems ready to be discovered.

Does anyone know if the cruise will originate in Barcelona or Rome or somewhere else?

Oh, one more question - will the platinum members post on here and let us know when they get offered the cruise so we can all be ready when it opens up to us a couple days later??

Just did a google search of the first line of this and AVC is using it to describe cruises on Princess and Azamara as well.

A little more searching and it looks like it originates from an Oceania CL ad from 2005.

Sorry to be a party pooper, doesn't mean its not true, its just not Disney wording.

Also not to be a party pooper - as I so would love to do a WBTA....BUT

There have been many sightings of port schedules and many don't make sense. Until DCL releases an actual announcement we can't count on it. Look at all the posts under the threads about rumors of the Wonder and the ports that have had listings of either The Wonder or The Magic.

Also, doesn't Disney get very upset at travel agents jumping on announcements? I'm not sure I'd like to be that agency if they've announced something DCL didn't give them permission to do so.

Again, having said this - I'd love for them to be doing the Med in 2013 with the resulting TA's.
