I really hope DCL schedules more of the Coastal cruises out of Los Angeles. I would also enjoy some shorter cruises on the West Coast, too!

There are a number of places the Wonder could cruise besides Mexico. They could do Panama Canal cruises, as mentioned; 3, 4, and 7-night coastal cruises; roundtrip Hawaii cruises, cruises to Australia/New Zealand as well as Indonesia and Asia. I don't know how popular the more exotic cruises would be, especially if DCL charges their usual super-premium prices for new itineraries. Airfare would also be quite high.

I'm on here every morning too...this is where I learned that the Dream and Fantasy sailings opened for 2013. I booked first thing that morning (west coast time) and was still too late to get a category 8 for a family of 5. They had lots of rooms left, just blocked them for only 3 or 4 people.
I think we will see more long Hawaii cruises off the West coast, and continued summer Alaska cruises.

I like the Pacific Coastal Cruises. Just wish they went longer than September That is a rough month to leave home as it is so beautiful here that month, now if they were offered in October once the rain starts here I would jump on it.

Could the time of year length they are offered be related to anything near San Francisco weather wise or marine wise?

Wish there were more options than Mexico. We would have tried to do that time frame for the holidays. I just have no desire to go there. Not sure why.

I also think that if the Wonder did 3 or 4 or 5 day cruises out of LA it would be very successful as a tie in to Disneyland the way they have done for WDW.

I have several families I know here that would love to cruise, but just can not afford the 7 days offerings on the west coast. They like the 3, 4 and 5 days out of Florida, but getting to Florida is cost prohibitive. Driving down to LA would be very do-able.

If they are going to drive that far they would need 2 days to drive there. With 7 days cruising, 2-3 days in the parks (remember Disneyland is way smaller than WDW) then 2 days to drive home. It could be done in a two week vacation. That's a lot of time to invest during a school year. A lot of vacation time needed.

But for a 3 day cruise and 2 days in the park, timed right plus the 4 travel days-- that is the weekends for travel plus the 5 weekdays between for the cruising and parks. Only one week. That's doable. (Those want to stay longer still could, lol)

Time it right around all the school holidays/breaks and it could be done.

Hey, they could even take a repo from the Alaskan cruises (out of Vancouver) down to enjoy the park and fly home if they weren't the first week of school.
If the Alaska cruises ended just two weeks earlier, we would have taken it down for a last minute vacay.

Anyway, like everyone else, still waiting.

Well friends, my anxiety reached new limits and last night I booked an Eastern on the Fantasy, just so I knew something was etched in stone. I really want to do Hawaii, but I must admit I'm pretty excited now that something is booked. I'll still be waiting anxiously to see if Hawaii is offered.

Cruise lines don't (and can't) do repos from Alaska to CA. They could start in Vancouver, cruise to Alaska, and then end in LA, but those are usually much longer than 7 days. Royal Caribbean used to offer nice repositioning itineraries to the Alaska ports at the beginning and end of the Alaska season. However, they dropped one ship in Alaska, and the other two ships reposition from Vancouver to Hawaii and then to Australia.

That's good there's speculation that there still might be west coast options. I hope they add some shorter trips too.

When Are the 2013 Magic and Wonder bookings Going to be Released???/

As you can see by our countdown banner, we're sailing a year from now on the Magic. We're very excited to return to that wonderful ship of great memories.
I am a bit perplexed however that DCL has not released dates yet for the Magic and Wonder for 2013. We're not fans of the bigger ships and prefer a slightly more 'intimate' feel. I'm looking forward to booking on board for a cruise in 2014, but if DCL follows this pattern of the Fantasy and Dream out first, I'm afraid I'll be lost for rebooking for then.
Does DCL fear that everyone will book the Magic/Wonder and leave the more expensive Dream/Fantasy on the sidelines?

I think it is a lot easier to release the Dream and Fantasy for 2013 and the next few years because the itineraries are the same ole, same ole. Just have to lock in your dates and fees. For the Magic and Wonder, it's a little more difficult when they are trying to do new itineraries. There's a lot more in development, planning, negotiating and pricing. I too would like to see them sooner rather than later but I think it's going to be like last year and we won't see 2013 itineraries until late winter/early spring for Magic/Wonder. I'm sailing in a couple of weeks and will just book a few dummy dates and move them when we can. Don't like doing it that way but seems like the only way to do it.

Last year the early 2012 dates for all of the ships were available in October 2010. I really hope that they don't start holding back until early 2012 to release the 2013 dates for the M&W.

Typo- That should have read Repo from Alaskan cruises to CA. Thanks for pointing it out.

I live halfway between Seattle to Vancouver so am aware the repo goes from Vancouver to LA as I am hoping to catch one.

Emphasis on early! We knew the Wonder would be doing Mexican Riviera cruises again and the Magic would still be in the Caribbean - but those ships were available to be booked only through March or April 2012. The news about NY and Galveston didn't come out until spring 2011.

No. Still hoping for Eastern Med and TA cruises. I suspect they'll wait until around April to let us know what their plans are.
