Such awesome auction pieces. The coolest one would have definitely been Walt Disney's Hollywood, then maybe the World of Color.

Can't wait to see the rest!

And there really WERE two untitled movies. I really like the graphics that they made up for the "Movie about Dinosaurs that is still Untitled" I couldn't find the graphic for the brain one online, but it was similar. Those Pixar guys totally have a sense of humor!

Welcome fellow Jamborini/Kidanite and SSR Owner and Lover! The Expo is a really fun event. After each one people always ask me how it was, and I'm usually still in a stupor from the lines to be really excited, but once I forget about the long waits, I'm so happy to have seen the presentations, learned the information and done all the shopping!

The experiences were the ones we were interested in bidding on. This wasn't one of the ones we really wanted but they had some really good ones.

I know! I wished that we could justify spending any of these amounts. I kept thinking of how many DVC points I could have purchased with some of these amounts of money, or how many years of my DVC dues that would have covered. That kept me based in reality!

The auction continued with Lot #8 a Mixed Media artpiece by Dave Avanzino to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of 101 Dalmations. The pups were hand painted, and then hand cut and placed in this shadowbox frame along with a hidden Mickey. Estimated Value on this piece was $3,000-4,000 and it sold for $5,200.

Lot #9 was the giant snowglobe with Sleeping Beauty’s Castle inside. This was in the Emporium at Disneyland. It’s estimated value was $1,000-3,000 and it ended up selling for $2,000.

Lot #10 was something that I found interesting. It was a compilation of all the various tickets that they issued during the 50th celebration at DLR. They were nicely framed and the estimated value was between $500-1,500. The auctioneer would start everything around $10,000 or $25,000 and if he got no hits (of course), so he’d split it in half, I think he got down to around $200 before people started bidding. I was willing for us to pay $1,000 maybe $1,200. However bidding got out of hand really quickly and pretty soon it closed for $3,000.

Next up was Lot #11 the Jungle Cruise Zebra that was never put into the attraction. His value was estimated at $500-2,000. He ended up going for $6,000!

Lot #12 was a set of three stained glass pieces by David Bird. These had an estimated value of between $3,500-4,000. They sold for $3,500.

Here is where I knew that there were people in the room who were completely certifiable! Lot #13 was a Tour of the Animation Building and the Ink & Paint Department at the Walt Disney Studios. It included a hand painted cel by the artists working there which would be matted and framed especially for the high bidder. Lunch in the Executive Dining room (not the cast member cafeteria) was also included. Estimated value was $4,000-7,000.

I think he started this at $10,000 and it immediately got a bid. If not he didn’t have to go down to $1,000 like many of the art pieces. From there bidding just went nuts, people kept bidding it up in increments of a thousand dollars, until it reached about $18,000. I think it was between two people who kept having to really think about it before placing the next bid, until it finally closed at $19,500!

I think I’ll wrap up this segment on that figure! More to come later!

If this wasn't a Disney convention, I would of stayed in the lounge all day.

The pirate props are interesting, but some were very simple common items and some were great pieces from the movie like the costumes. A very nice display overall.

Those painting were really cool, I like how it started with a simple character then was painted into another character from the same film.

The auction looks great I'm glad you have more of it to share with us.

It was printed in the brochures that $10,000 was donated to UNICEF. They clearly took in more than that as you will see in the next few posts.

I know that's the sort of reasoning I kept using, DVC dues, property taxes, how many years of that could I pay with that type of money?

Some of the props were very well done, but others were just simple things you could get at a thrift store.

So back to the auction craziness…

Lot #14 was a prototype of the 2011 Hallmark “Clock Cleaners” Keepsake Ornament. The estimated value on this piece was $1,500-3,000 and it sold for $2,300.

Lot #15 was a painting by Darren Wilson of the Four Characters. It’s estimated value was $4,000-5,000 and it sold for $3,500.

Lot #16 was a pretty cool experience that didn’t sell for nearly enough. It included a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean with Disney Legend Alice Davis, a tour of the Disneyland costuming department, and a lunch with Alice. The estimated value was $4,000 and it sold for only $5,000. Alice Davis was sitting about 3 rows behind us in the audience.

Here’s one of the things we almost considered bidding on. Lot #17 was one of the cannons from the Disneyland Resort Pirates of the Caribbean Ride. It’s estimated value was $2,000-3,000, however, it shot right up to $5,250, way out of our price range!

Lot #18 started the insanity of designer Katherine Baumann with a Vintage Mickey Mouse Retro Minaudiere, Double Mirror Compact and Card Case. The estimated value was $2,500-3,000. It ended up selling for $2,900.

Lot #19 was a set of Vintage Mickey and Minnie Candy Dispensers by Katherine Baumann. They are covered with over 500 Swarovski Crystals on the heads. (Candy is not included) <---- Suggested Value $500-$1,000. These sold for $700!

These are FREAKIN’ Pez dispensers people! Get a grip!

I have to make a short overnight trip out of town, so I’ll be back in a couple days with more!

Oh my, my, my......$700 for 2 Pez candy dispensers.....lol Of course the Swarovski crystals are pretty!!!

Only $10000 donated to UNICEF....that's actually a bit disappointing. Does Disney really need the proceeds from the auction???

Enjoy your time away....we'll be patiently waiting for your return!!!

When the bid on the tour with Alice Davis was finally accepted did she aknowledge the bidder with a wave or anything?

I guess I'm going to have to be patient for your return, but I did enjoy seeing a few more items.
