In Which the Men Sleep, and the Women Travel Around the World

Sorry for the long delay in updating. But I'm back (and hopefully I remember things that happened!)

The morning following the night of Joe's birthday, Gina and I discovered Chris and Joe both cacooned in their blankets.

So after Gina and I had a good laugh (and some breakfast) we headed over to EPCOT and finished our trip around the world.

We met up with Mater and McQueen.

We got a picture with the Big Cheese himself! (just a side note, if you have a Disney Chase Visa card, you can get a free Photopass picture with some mystery character in Innoventions. I did this in December 2010 and it was Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. In May it was Mickey.

We stopped in Mexico and tried on sombreros. We also had tacos at La Cantina de San Angel for lunch (delish!) The men met up with us after sleeping off the night before. They greeted us with margaritas in hand. (I'm not sure how they kept going, it was in the 90s! I couldn't get enough water in me, alcohol was not on my to do list.)

We visited each country and did the obligatory stereotypical EPCOT country pavillion pictures.

That night we ate dinner at Mama Melrose in MGM, and then saw Fantasmic! (but I took no pictures )

Brunch At Tusker House, and the Wild African Trek

We wanted to bring Gina to a character breakfast and we had a hard time deciding between Tusker House and Cape May Cafe. On the one hand, CMC would be easier since we were staying at BWV, but Tusker House is convenient for getting an early start at Animal Kingdom. In the end we decided to eat at Tusker House; firstly, because I think the food there is better; secondly, because Chris and I were doing the Wild Africa Trek!

We got pictures with Mickey Mouse and Daisy Duck.

Chris got a picture taken with his hero: Goofy.

After breakfast, Joe and Gina headed off to walk around AK, and Chris and I headed off to check in for the Wild Africa Trek.
We got strapped into our harnesses by CM Megan. Our harnesses included steel water bottles!

The two of us together.

The Trek was amazing! We got to see all sorts of behind the scenes safari things, climb rope bridges, and see the animals up close. It was not physically tiring, but it was hot in the sun.

Our lunches came in cute little tin buckets. Mine had a special orange tag on it since mine was made without dairy. The meal was very good and filling.

We hung out at the outpost (the bamboo building you see on Kilamanjaro Safaris) and took some amazing pictures of the animals.
LIONS! (I actually took this with a regular camera, and shot through a telescope. It was hard, but amazing result without carrying around a DSLR.)

After lunch, the trek wrapped up quickly, and our tour guides brought us back to AK. Chris and I met up with Joe and Gina for some more lunch. We ate at Flame Tree BBQ (Chris has a thing for ribs :D)

After that, Chris and Joe went to ride Dinosaur and Gina and I went to see the Festival of the Lion King. On the way back we ran into a few of our favorite characters.

The Magic(al) Kingdom

Gina and I woke up really early to hit the extra magic hours at MK. We invited the men, but it was just to darn early for them! So we left them sleeping and headed down to catch the bus.

We got a really nice picture at the start of the day before Cinderella's Castle. The men later got their own picture in front of the Castle, as you can tell it was much later in the day (and also taken with a much better camera)

It was amazing being there so early. Fantasy Land was nice and empty, so Gina and I were able to do a number of the "kiddle rides" in record time without crazy long waits.

We did Peter Pan and It's a Small World in about 30 minutes, and then headed over to the Carousel.

We rode the Speedway

And eventually the men decided to join us. Gina and I had been going strong since early that morning and decided to head back to the resort to rest up a bit before dinner, but Joe and Chriss decided to stick it out and ride Splash Mountain, Runaway Train, and (I think) Space Mountain (I can't remember if they were still refurbishing it at that time.)

Before we departed, we stopped on Main Street to get ice cream from Edy's (yum!) and my brother took this ever so flattering picture of me enjoying my cone.

My friend Ali was coming to visit us for dinner that night! So on our way out of the park, Gina and I stopped at Guest Relations at MK and spoke to a CM there. I had originally only made reservations for 4 at Rose and Crown because I wasn't sure until recently that Ali was visiting, I had quick made reservations for 5 at Les Chefs de France, but wanted to eat to RnC for the view of Illuminations. The CM was able to work it out with RnC that we could bring an extra guest! What a Magical Kingdom

On our way out of the park, Gina and I stopped to have our leaving picture taken. Too bad we weren't there to watch Mickey wave goodbye.

Rose and Crown and Illuminations

Ali arrived and the first thing we had to do was get her a park pass. I think the woman was very confused because we purchased it at the concierge desk at the hotel, rather than at guest relations at the park. We managed to secure the pass after explaining to her we just needed a pass, but she kept trying to add things to the card.

We arrived at Rose and Crown (a bit late), but they managed to seat us outside on the deck. Although, there seemed to be some confusion because although guest relations had called the restaurant to adjust our reservation, the restaurant had no record of the adjustment. They did manage to seat us anyway, so that was good. I sent Joe and Gina over to Chefs de France to cancel our reservation there. (I know you don't HAVE to do so, but I figure that a walk up might be able to take the slot if we confirm we won't be there.)

The first thing Joe ordered was the Imperial Sampler. (The empty one is Guinness.)

We had some good fun before the food came out. (Poor Chris was on the end I'm pretty sure he ordered the Welsh Dragon drink.)

I do have some pictures of the fireworks, but they're a bit mangled. These are some of the better ones that Ali managed to snag.

This is a picture of the five of us sitting around the table.

Before we left the park, we hung about in the UK taking some more phonebooth pictures. (At which point, one of the phones started ringing! So I picked it up, not really sure what to do. It was someone telling me about the grand opening of the new Star Tours exhibit. I'm not sure if it was a CM or another guest. I ended up hanging up on the person.) Also, as I look through the pictures, I'm a bit unclear as to where Chris went. He's missing!!

The best thing about having a bigger little brother? He can give me piggy back rides!!! The woman behind us in the neon shirt is staring at us, but I'm not sure if it was in condemnation or in indulgence. (Probably condemnation because it's dangerous to piggy back on cement up hill.)

I made Joe give me a piggy back ride all the way up the hill from the back entrance of EPCOT to the top of the bridge on the way back to the BWV.

It seems we recovered Chris in time for him to have another Jack and Coke and a Yuengling. You can tell the sun is starting to get to us! But that is an acceptable sacrifice to spend a few days in paradise!
