It's titanium and black diamonds. The titanium is nice and hard, so he can't smash it flat while working (he's a bartender); it also kept it in my price range. I don't really wear rings, and probably shouldn't anyway, given concerns about doctors transmitting bacteria on their hands; we'll get me something plain and inexpensive for the ceremony.

We skipped out on engagement rings. Some seem to be all caught up in them more than anything, but for us it didn't come about in the traditional sense of one proposing to the other. Marriage was just openly talked about and then one day we just decided we were going to do it and set a day. Plus we both viewed ourselves on equal ground, so we didn't want just one of us to have a ring and the other not.

So for our rings, which we picked out together and then didn't put them on until we got married, we decided to get matching mens white gold rings that were a cross between a traditional "plain" wedding ring and an engagement ring:

I have a friend with a very similar ring except the stones are all different colors - think rainbow. I LOVE it.
