I just got back about a week ago from BSM. We went in a day early too since we were traveling from the east. My sister and I went to the LA farmers market and the Grove. It was a $15 cab ride from the Rennisance and it was great. We didn't see anyone famous but it's such a cool place we could have spent all day there. Just remember that you do have to check in with your guides, ours were not there at 9ish when we ventured out but we came ba k around 2 they were there.
We got in on the saturday early we ventured around the Hollywood and highland complex and went to the wax museum too. We checked out a few places, had dinner etc. Lots to choose from but I'm sooo glad we went to the farmers market. If I do BSM again, I need to go back there. |

We did the Backstage Magic in July. It was a fantastic tour!
We had time to ourselves on the first day; the group met at about 4:30 pm. We spent the day wandering Hollywood Blvd checking out the stars on the sidewalk. Our teens enjoyed the typical- Ripley's, wax museum and open air bus tour. Very touristy (tacky?) but the kids had fun. Disney doesn't show you the tacky side of Hollywood - they reveal classic Hollywood during Walt's heyday. Just beware of costumed individuals on Hollywood Blvd. They'll pose for photos or take your husband by the hand for a dance with an expectation to be tipped. Do see the beach - Santa Monica is nice. My son took surf lessons at Newport beach if you are keen. Skip Venice Beach. Driving in LA is easy - just bring along or rent a GPS. Have a wonderful time!

We are history buffs. Is it feasible to see the Nixon or Reagan presidential museums while visiting the Disney sites too?
