checking in from Springfield, Virginia.

We are about an 11 minute drive from the auto train and love to get to Disney that way.

20 year Virginian. Grew up in NoVa, but went to school down at Christopher Newport. Spent a year in Chesterfield. Now back in NoVa-- only a five minute drive from where Disney's America was supposed to be built.

Ah, yes, I remember the controversy...I almost cried when Disney pulled out. Would have done wonders for the non-Federal workforce around here, especially young people.

Worst part is the land is now a McMansion development with golf course. We get none of the infrastructure Disney promised and still ended up with the congestion everyone feared.

For those who don't know about the Disney's America project here is a post I did a while back on Disney in DC.

FlipFlopMom! My son lives in Rocky Mount, VA. Went to Ferrum College and loved the area. Franklin County. You're not alone!

Another voice from Occoquan! Clearly more powerful than our population numbers would suggest

Awesome! I am only about 20-30 minutes or so from Ferrum and Rocky Mount. I'm in adjoining Patrick County! Glad to know I am not alone.

I may or may not have pulled some shenanigans in Occoquan in my younger days. Wife and I did our rehearsal dinner there many years ago.

We are also in NoVa - Lake Ridge, just down the road from Occoquan! We've been here for 17 years and DVC members for 15!

Wow, the mountains are really beating the sea. I thought there'd be some more folks from Hampton Roads by now.
