Updated w/lots of pictures on 8.4! 1st Disneyland trip and first stay at DL Hotel! - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hola everyone! We have been to Disneyworld several times but as you can see, this was ourt first Disneyland trip and our first stay at Disneyland Hotel and we LOVED IT!!

I know many people warn of the castle in DL being a let down compared to WDW but I thought it was just beautiful and fit in perfectly in the original Disney dream. I love how similar the Magic Kingdom parks are yet how different they are in some areas. DL has so much charm, just love, love, love it.

California Adventure is fun but a bit odd...it doesn't quite fit the Disney mold for me but maybe it takes some getting used to. The kids and DH did have a great time playing the boardwalk games and won some cute stuffed animals.

Downtown Disney was great! So comapct and just a fin place to be...love being able to catch the monorail in Tomorrowland from there. It is beautifuly maintained and so lively at night. Loved it!

Now.....I am so in love with Disneyland Hotel!! It is beautiful and I love the location!! The new rooms are amazing, just amazing!! I am so happy we changed our reservation from the Fairfield Marriott to DL Hotel...it was worth every penny! I was granted my request of Dreams Tower facing DTD and the kids absoultely loved the pool area and monorail slides. Yes, there is obviously still construction in progress but as odd as it sounds, you don't really notice it. And we never heard a sound from inside our room....best hotel we have ever stayed in. Cannot wait to stay there again!

So good to hear.

We are heading for a stay at the Disneyland hotel in just four weeks. Really looking forward to staying there.

So glad to hear a positive review for DLH. We have been staying there for many many years and lately it has received a lot of disinterest. I look forward to staying there again. It is hard to believe all the changes that have taken place there in the last twenty years. I can remeber when there was the monorail cafe and neon cactus bar. Oh well, good changes so far. I'm glad that you had a great time.

sounds like a great trip. we're heading down in Feb 2012 but I'm thinking of splurging and doing a long weekend the end of this year maybe so we can stay on site!

Glad to hear you loved the Disneyland hotel. We stayed there for Christmas 06 and had a wonderful time. We're thinking of staying there again this summer.

We are going in about 6 weeks.

I read a report of cell phone service being poor (or non existent) in the new towers at DL, did you have any problems with it?

Was the new pool enough for the whole hotel? I am kind of worried about the NL pool being closed, but I think the kids are going to love the monorail slides.

It will be our 1st DL trip, and we are staying at DLH too! Your trip report makes me very excited about it!

Sounds like a great trip! We haven't stayed in the DLH for a year and a half and I miss it. Can't wait to check out all the new stuff, refurb was really just underway when we were last there.
