Looks-like Trader Joe's has also stayed-away from Florida (for the same reasons?).
Well, we stay away from Publix unless they have some good sales. It's mostly Super Target but I'd go to Kroger in a heartbeat if it was here.

I moved here from further up north a couple of years ago. I miss not only the prices/sales but the self checkout aisles and the 24hr service.

So funny, DH and I were talking about how Orlando didnt have a Wawa or Sheetz and how we thought they would do so good, last week when we were in FL. I love Wawa capucannios (sp?). Otherwise Im a Sheetz girl (prob cuz its closer in our area).

If you're a hoagie fan and in the Orlando area try Publix. They will let you choose the bread then make it exactly the way you want it so if you don't enjoy it there is nobody to blame but yourself. My personal favorite is ham, capicola and provolone with just a dash of oil but drowning in vinegar. They do have standard versions they make with the presliced bits all lined up but if you want something custom they will slice it just for you then add all of your favorite toppings, which is the way to go.

I had never been to a WaWa before last month. I asked my friend what it was since I had driven by like 100 of them since entering PA and she was all excited to take me one. I fell in love. She wrote a pretty cool blog post about it:
What is WaWa?

Yay for WaWa in Florida. Hope the gas is cheaper. It would be nice to get a WaWa hot chocolate in Florida in the winter.

Wawa in FL?!? Coffeetopia and French Vanilla creamer and Wawa brand iced tea? That is one of the few places I'm happy to fork over my money to.

Wawa hasn't used Amoroso rolls in years. Every Wawa from NJ to VA uses rolls baked in Wawa's own bakery now. They're not as good IMO as Amoroso or Cassone's rolls were.

Nope. Never say never, I guess, but it's extremely unlikely. Wawa had 4 stores in Staten Island in the late 1970s/early 80s. Were only marginally profitable. Wawa closed all their Connecticut stores in 1996 and started to focus on Virginia. Since then the focus for expansion has always been south.

Now, I'm getting scared (of those of you who have to have your Wawa while in Florida for the week).

...doesn't a person do a "vacation getaway" to get-away from their usual surroundings/trappings?

I'm not sure of the exact dates, but early 2012. A relative does permitting and has their contract. I was sent an email about it last year with the title "It's not Sheetz, but you'll be happy" I love WaWa for the coffee and the pot roast subs.

There will be one on I Drive at Central Fl Parkway. (right by Sea World) and that's the closest to WDW that they've got approval for right now. The list I got has one in Apopka, one way down 192 in St. Cloud, one on OBT south of Gatorland and one on John Young. (Yes, I just Googled the info I got to get a rough idea).

Supposedly, the other Florida locations (Polk and Hillsborough counties) won't come until 2013. I won't make a special trip just for coffee. I don't even do it for either of my favorite coffee chains (NOT Starbucks), but I will detour a little bit if I'm over that way for WDW or shopping at the outlets.
