I'm a former Philadelphian in VA. I felt the same way when they put them all over our city. They FINALLY put one within a few miles of my house. This news just may be reason to go off site while in the World.

Not too much longer til HoagieFest!

I guess I am partial to QuikTrip (QT) -- now, there's a c-store!
But they are non-existent in Northern New Jersey.

Sounds interesting.

I wish we had a Trader Joe's or a Kroger here, though!

I have no idea what WaWa is, I guess they don't usually have them in the south? Anyway, I'm surprised people are gaga over what seems like a convenience store, must be something special about it...

We love it. We get breakfast, lunch and dinners there a few times a week.
They add new foods regularly to their usuals.
They also usually have the cheapest gas by us so it is a real convenient stop.
Here is a link to their website for those curious about them.

Depends on what part of NNJ you're in. They opened a store with gas service in Parsippany last year. Of course, with the rains we've been getting this week, it might be under water soon.

No, they're not in the south (at least not yet, anyway).

What Wawa is, is a large-format convenience store (similar in layout/sqaure footage to other large c-store chains such as QuikTrip and Sheetz) with multiple gas lanes.

What distinguishes them from the local competition is that each store has a deli where they make fresh subs (or "hoagies" in N.J. parlance). I never particularly cared for them because of the rolls they used (Amoroso) -- I prefer the fresh-baked ones from "other places".

I also recall them as being unique for having non-surcharging ATMs (sponsored by PNC Bank).

Assuming you are in Central Florida...

...once upon a time, Kroger was in Florida until the mid-80's (they also abandoned major markets in Pittsburgh and St. Louis around that time).

With the dominance of Florida's two "home-grown" chains, Publix and Winn-Dixie (and the emergence of "Super-sized" Walmart and Target stores), I can't imagine Kroger being able to compete (and be profitable) with any of those chains.

Looks-like Trader Joe's has also stayed-away from Florida (for the same reasons?).

They also have their own dairy so Milk is most times a few cents cheaper than the super markets which is in stark contrast to buying Milk at any other convenience outlet. Not sure how that translates in other states as I think the dairy farm is in PA, so I'm happy with it.

Most people I know are enamored with their coffee and other hot beverage selections. And I think the big draw is the full service deli with made to order sandwiches - which has branched out into rice bowls and stews. Since almost everything is made fresh the quality is leaps and bounds over the 7-11's in my area. So you can pick up your morning coffee, your lunch, an ice scraper, quart of oil, pack of smokes, and your gas (some locations) in one trip

Even though I've lived in PA all my life, I saw way more WaWa's in the Central/South Jersey area so I really thought it was a Jersey thing I started seeing more in PA and said "Wow they're branching out, great" and my parents told me they were really a PA company So I can see some people's confusion.
