Royal pacific vs. portofino. Is it worth it?

Is portofino worth paying $50 per night extra to stay there? Just an FYI, we are going late august, older teens, and bf who dislikes crowds. I've never stayed at either resort.

Oddly, we could save $40 a night staying at Portofino instead of Royal Pacific.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. We've stayed at both (RP twice) over the past few months and we actually prefer RP over PB. Our main "complaint" about PB is the distance to the parks - it's a nice, pretty walk, but when you're trying to get to the park or after walking ALL day, we prefer the easier access to RP. (We ended up spending quite a bit on rickshaws between PB and the parks!) We also like the tropical "vibe" of RP's pool better, although it doesn't have a slide.

I do think PB has better dining options though...

You can't go wrong with either, but if you've never been before, RP is a great resort. I'm sure you can find something else to spend the $50 a night on

We absolutely love Portofino, and $50 would probably be a doable nightly rate difference for us.

But...our first Universal resort was Royal, so we know what that's like. We've been back again, but it's definitely small (standard room compared to standard room). Portofino is much roomier, and we find the place to be so lovely and peaceful and gorgeous that it's definitely our favorite.

We have only stayed Portofino , but it is our resort of choice. We love the theming, the rooms are largest ( plus though they are few, it is the ONLY resort to have a balcony)and we love the pools and overall vibe.It is a longer walk, but it is such a beautiful path we dont mind it .Plus there is always the boat if we dont want to walk

We always stay at PB but on the next trip we are opting for RP the main reason was the cost was $120.00 more per night and that's with APH... Our last trip to PB was us finding our beds had dirty cover sheets on them. They did do the right thing buying us breakfast and taking $100.00 off my bill BUT the rooms were $335.00 per might again with the APH.
