My DD now going to the Primary that I and my two brothers went to. It's very strange going back there with her, it all seems so tiny! But I have so many happy memories from that school and I love to think that she will too!

I'm keeping everything crossed that you get the place you want!

Got an email last week saying my shareholder club's membership has renewed, no resending anything for me!

Just hope card comes in time for my late-april trip, pleased to see a raft of new pins for the new celebration announced today : )

The pressure is off...

...as you know we really uhmmmed and ahhhhed over booking for the summer as funds were tight, but decided if we really saved we could do it and were so excited to book it!

Well, today I got a contract to mark exam papers - which will prettty much pay for all of our spends and half of our meal money! It has REALLY taken the stress off and means we can relax slightly, but also means that we will have a really FANTASTIC holiday!

Sorry for the random post - just very excited! My DD asks everyday if we are going back to Disneyland and is telling everyone she is going back when she is bigger! Love that she is so excited about it, and the magic in her eyes when she mentions it is amazing! So worth the hours of exam marking!

Oh, that's good news

Honestly, I can never really afford our Disney holidays, but it always sorts itself out. The memories we've made over the years are still spoken about, and you never get the time back again with your lo's. So the extra hours and sleepness nights of how to pay for it all are actually totally worth it

mrs poppins I'm the same - once we've booked to go back to DLP I'm usually rooting through my house seeing what I can put on ebay . I get rid of loads of stuff we no longer want, and I get to go back to my Happy Place!

I agree with all of you.

We don't have loads of spare money to just dip into when a good deal comes up. I ummed and ahhed over the DLRP trip we just booked for a while and almost booked back in January to go in March for our anniversary.

I held out as I knew Dreams was coming and really wanted to see it. So when the 40% off came out and was valid over my birthday date (& I could get £69 Eurostar) I jumped at the chance.

Also I had about £300 in my PayPal account from bits I've sold on eBay so the actual money I had to part with wasn't much at all.

I wish wish wish we were back at DLH but it was £1300 more! I'll be sad walking under it every day, but not £1300 worth of sad!

I know the trip won't compare to DLH or the WDW hotels and it'll be a bit less fancy than we're used to. But it was a case of go or not go, and fingers crossed the weather will be OK and now that EoS is there ill be quite glad I have to walk past it every day!

What kind of stuff do you guys put on ebay? I've tried it a couple of times, sold dd's old phone and some toys, but always seem to get stung with the postage.

Is there anything in particular that sells well?

I've got tons of stuff lying about that we don't ever use - I normally just do a clearout and go to the charity shop, but ebay would be a good way to increase the Disney funds

I sell baby stuff - just sold my nursing chair for £60 - it hurt to let it go but it no longer fits in DD's bedroom. Also got lots of the more expensive toys to sell (Little People stuff, trampoline, garage, walker, rocker etc.) all in perfect condition and I tend to keep boxes too as you get more for them. I guess I am lucky that my DD looks after her stuff well! I never sell on ebay anymore, it's too expensive with fees etc. but when I do I weigh everything carefully and always charge abit more for postage to cover packaging. Try gumtree, I sell lots on netmums too!

I rarely come here as I never know what to say but I just need to talk to anyone, no one, myself

My dad is being operated on tomorrow, it's a pretty standard operation I guess (hips) but he's high risk as during a previous operation he had a massive stroke

He's not been right since and never will be. So even though I know that he's in good hands and they will be taking extra care of him I do worry, not for me but for my mum

Thank you for listening

Oh Carrie I hope it all goes well. I understand your fears, when my dad had cancer I locked myself into the bathroom and refused to talk or do anything bar cry for the day and how my mum would cope was the one thing that worried me most.
They are married 44 years and are so very much still in love and they depend so much on each other but it was also the thing that got them through the whole ordeal. They lean on each other and it lightens the load. Mum was very much the strong one (her six kids were nervous wrecks!). We all pitched in at home and got through it together. Family and friends are worth their weight in gold at these times.
I will say a little prayer for a speedy recovery. And on a side note my grandmothers best friend is 89 and has just that the same operation a few months back and is back dancing at the weekends, its got to give ya hope!

I'll keep your Dad and Mum in my thoughts tomorrow Carrie_Cat, its hard when you live a distance away in situations like this isn't it (I'm 6 hours away from my parents home, and always start worrying when my Mum has to go for hospital tests etc).
