I'm on the 2nd Alaska cruise this year and I was on the 2nd Med cruise last year. Something I found very helpful was last year, there were quite a few people on the EBTA and the Med cruise in front of us who did live blogs and TRs and that was really informative! I've been watching some of the the meet threads in front of us and I've seen where a few cruisers are blogging this year, so I'll be checking those out.

To answer the question about blankets, last year in the Med on the chilly days they had blankets out by the pool. I don't remember hot chocolate out there, but I'm pretty sure they had the packets and hot water either at the buffet or the drink station, but I can't remember which.

It should be an amazing cruise!

Please wave back, and if you can get the Captain to sound the horn, bonus!!!

On all the cruises I have been on they have always had packets of hot chocolate by the drink station, and they defiantly had blankets on the top deck in the Med the only problem was they kept running out.

I am bring a small fleece blanket for me and one for DH so we don't have to worry about fighting for one, plus we have a veranda!

We are also on the second Alaska and we have booked all our tours independently so I will report on that.

Does anyone have questions to add to the pool? Does anyone know of others that will be tweeting and/or blogging on the May 3rd cruise?

Is the general dining dress code different on the Alaskan cruises?

The e-mail I received said the following:

Days
• Onboard casual wear (shorts, slacks, jeans, long sleeve shirts)
• Comfortable shoes (sneakers, hiking boots, good socks)
• Port wear (Wool or fleece sweater, waterproof jacket. turtleneck, comfortable long sleeve shirts, hats, gloves)
• Comfy warm coats, gloves, hats.
• Nice dining attire (no jeans or shorts at dinner, please)
• Optional formal attire.

My understanding is that the "no jeans" part is different than usual

They are going to be offering a new specialty hot drink every night according to a blog I just read!

Thanks for doing this! We leave on June 21 and I'm happy to get whatever details I can.

My specific question is what characters were onboard in "special" attire?

I know when we did the transatlantic, they had the fab 5 and some of the others in pirate costumes for pirate night and in Spanish styled garb when we got to Spain. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with for Alaska!

hmmm... I have not gotten an email recently. That is different; as it does not usually state anything about jeans; it usually just says no shorts..

So excited... 4 weeks from tomorrow for me!

Don't forget your binoculars everyone! LOL! Never thought I'd go on a cruise that I would actually need binoculars.
