door hangers and the Dream

Here's a great tip I used on our last Disney Cruise.....You know those clear plastic shoe holders? I'm talking about teh ones that are about the size of a door and have a bunch of shoe sized pouches? it's meant for holding your shoes and hanging it in a closet. We brought one of these and hung it on the inside of the bathroom door. In each pouch we put razor, shaving cream, brushes, lotions, etc....all of our toiletries. There never seems to be enought counter space/cabinets in the bathroom and this is a great way to keep everythign orginized and since it's clear plastic, you can easily spot whatever it is your looking for!!!! They only run about $15, so at the end of our cruise, we left it in the cabin in hopes the next DCruiser could enjoy it.

I heard however that these don't fit over the doors on the Dream. Can anyone confirm or refute this for me??? I've already bought my new shoe hanger too!

just so you know, any personal items like that purposely left in a stateroom are removed, and not left for the next occupant. There would be no way for the crew to guarantee items left are germ free and depending on the item even a safety concern.

Bathroom kits

I bought a “Personal Organizer” from L.L.Bean for my bathroom items years ago. Love it. It’s one of the best convenience items I have ever purchased. (that and my GPS) Just this year I bought a second one for kitchen items….whenever we travel and stay in a place with a kitchen.

I know it may be a stupid question: How do you use the shoe organizers on the cruise?? Only for shoes?? For what else?

It's great! I don't put shoes in it. I hang the empty shoe holder bag on the inside of the bathroom door. Then, in each of the pouches (initially meant to hold shoes) I'll put a razor, in another I'll put toothpaste, in another suntan lotion, etc. The shoe holder has about 24 seperate pouches which seems to hold about everything we need in the bathroom. Anything that you usually keep in a bathroom drawer or cabinet can be put in a shoe pouch instead (since the bathrooms don't have drawers or cabinets).

I bought mine at B,B and B store (the one you get the 20percent off coupons for) it is blue and cloth and has mesh holders not plastic. A friend of mine has a white one. When it gets dirty because of the suntan lotion, toothpaste or other liquids - just throw it in the wash and you’re ready for the next cruise.

I think I have read here before that you might be able to find them at the 99cents plus 1 penny store.

I only use 3 out of the 4 hooks on the top, 1 of the hooks gets in the way.

On our recent March 31st Dream cruise, our over-the-door shoe holder did not fit on the door. That is, the door did not close with the shoe hanger on the door. We were bummed.

We used a Dollar store plastic shoe holder on the Dream and hung it on the hooks provided in the room - outside the bathroom. We used it for suntan lotion, sun glasses, hand sanitizer, flip flops cameras, gum and candy, etc.

We have used our shoe holder since our first DCL cruise 2001 on every vacation since either on sea or land. We love it. I can't stand clutter, especially in tight quarters. Makes it easier for our room attendant too.

On our 4/17 cruise, ours fit perfectly over the door to the shower.
