You can do it Buffy! I started C25K in May and now I'm up to running 8 miles. I'm all signed up for the Princess Half! Can't wait to scrap those pictures!

Hi Colleen!!!! Thanks for the boost!

I'm committing to the Princess 1/2 2013.

I just uploaded my pics from Action Sports from the Everest Challenge. Good Lord if those fat butt pics aren't motivation, I don't know what is!!!
I have one that is just gross and I wasn't going to print it but I decided I should because it's probably going to become my "before" pic.

I'm really looking forward to starting a running scrapbook. Something just for me for a change.

A running scrap book is a great idea. My regular scrapbooks have almost no pictures of me, since I'm always the one behind the camera. Now I just need someone to take pictures of me running. So far I have done 2 5Ks and a 10K. I probably won't get anymore races in til after the Princess. The Everest Challenges looks like a lot of fun. When do they do that one? Maybe I can plan a Disney trip around it.

LOL short arms be damned, I'm taking pics of myself. At least with Action sport they will post pics for you to buy if they can see your bib number.

Congrats on the races!!! I've only done the one 5K at WDW. Everest Challenge is in early May, tentative dates for 2012 is May 5. Sadly my running partner (DS15) is angling to do the Zombie 5K in Boston with DH the same day, so I don't have anyone to go with me.

We will have just been there in Feb. for the Princess. If I was in FL I'd run it with you!

Aw, thanks Colleen. I'm sure I can find a partner. DS11 might be interested, but he's never run that far before. Most he's ever done is 2.2 and that was this past October.

I have no intentions on stopping - in fact, I intend to repeat Week 1 next week so I can complete it without struggle. But it seems like most people sailed through Week 1 and it is making me feel extra couch potatoey that I am not able to do all the runs. Did anyone else struggle with Week 1? Am I doing something wrong?

Any input is welcome! For more details, you can check out my blog... link below.

Congrats on starting! It is hard, and honestly, for me the beginning was the hardest. I did every week twice. For me, in my head, the first week was a challenging week, and the second was an "easy" week. It really was a mind game for me for most of it. I am to the conclusion around the time I was running 20 plus mins. at a time, that almost every run; at some point; I want to quit, but you just have to talk yourself through it and keep going. I feel great thinking about what I accomplished later in the day.
One other thing that was easier for me (especially when I started running longer times was to think about how many songs until I was done, instead of the time. For me, 6 songs doesn't sound as bad as 20+ minutes. I just ran my longest ever (30 mins on my 30th birthday.) Now I have to work on my speed. My speed SUCKS, but I NEVER thought I'd ever be able to say that I'm going out for a 20, 30 min. run. I will say, I do like the idea of running, and I do kinda like it, so for me, it did get easier. You def. build confidence in what you can do as you go on. I can remember doing the first couple of weeks, and thinking I was never going to make it, but you will and it'll feel great.

Hi everyone!

My mom and I are going to start C25K sometime this week or early next in preparation for the Royal Family 5k! It is our first race. We are NOT runners and would love any advice or encouragement.

Strange but necessary question: is there a benefit to buying running shoes? We both have New Balances that we like but I believe they are Cross Trainers. Thanks!

My best advice would be just get out there and do it! I was not a runner at all. I started the C25K in June and on Thanksgiving I ran my first 10K! I am now training for the Princess 1/2!!!

As for shoes...YES!!! I would advise going to a actual running store and getting fitted for shoes. They will do an analysis of your feet and give you the best ones for you. I just started running in Newton's and ADORE them! The right shoes make all the difference!!!

Wow! That's fantastic! Congrats!

Alrighty.. I will have to ask for a pair for Christmas. You recommend going to an actual running store... how do I find one of those? I'm clueless! A store like Sports Authority isn't as good? I'm willing to go whever is best!

Thanks!

I would not go to Sports Authority personally. Here is a link to some running stores near you (you will have to copy and paste it)...

I've never ran, but I am interested in doing this program. I have worked out over the years but never been able to run. I would like to know though, is this program to be done in addition to your normal workout, or should this be your only workout? Thanks so much.

The C25K was my cardio for the week. I also do Taekwondo so that was my cross training.
