Saw the doctor yesterday about my knee. It's healed! However as I was walking out I heard him dictating that I have a stress fracture in my shin. Thanks for telling ME! So like an idiot I ran 2.25 miles doing 200m/100m run/walk intervals and then ran 2.25 miles straight thru. My shin was fine while I was running, but holy cow did it hurt after I got home and this morning. Advil is my BFF! I think I'll take a day or two off and then finally finish week 9.

Finally got back to C25K. I did w9d2 today. It felt good to go 30 minutes straight. My shin still hurts but not while I'm running.

I finished W3 today which for some reason got harder as the week went on. I'm doing some traveling this week, but I'm still going to try to get my week 4 runs in on Wednesday. I packed my running shoes so I'll have no excuses!

You can do it! Just think about how good it will feel when you are done!!!

I really wish I could do this program, but there really isn't anywhere around here where I am comfortable running and I am afraid of the treadmill. I go 3.4mph now and have to hold on. Any way to get over the fear, or just have to build my confidence up with it?

I held on until I felt more comfortable not holding on. I tried letting go at lower speeds and then gradually built up the speed over time. Someone else may have a better idea of how to build up the confidence, but mine was just gradual experiences with increasing speed. If you have to hold on for a while, just stick with that until you feel more comfortable and steady - then try letting one hand go, then hold more and more loosely with the remaining hand. Good luck!

Going to attempt to start week 4 again tonight....last week was a disaster about 17 minutes in when someone unplugged the treadmill while I was on it - AGH!!!

Hey - I still hold on when I am going faster. I always think of Jillian from the Biggest Loser telling the contestants to let go - and I still can't let go.
I do find swinging my arms to maintain balance helps....but do what you are comfortable with for right now....don't let that stop you!

Have you tried outside at all? I did all my running before on the treadmill but this time I'm outside and can't believe how much faster I'm running.

Maybe you need to go slower even if it feels too slow?

Tonight I did w9d3! I guess I can say I graduated! We will be at Disney next week so I'm going to stick with doing 3 miles if I can get a few runs in while we are there. Then when I get back I'm going to start Bridge to 10K.

I sometimes find myself struggling at the end of the week also. Maybe it's just the fatigue of the workweek catching up with you? Just keep getting your runs in there - everyone has bad runs!

Awesome job and congratulations!
Have a great time at Disney!

I'm almost there, too! Just 1 more day and I'll be done with C25K Yesterday, I did 3 miles in 32:10. I am SO happy with that pace! Over C25K my pace has improved by almost 1:30 per mile.

My goal is the Princess Half in February. I'll be starting the Galloway 1/2 training plan which I have modified a bit to take out any jumps in mileage over a mile at a time. I thought about doing the Bridge to 10k, but figured I'd modify Galloway since I will do the run/walk at the Princess.

Did W4D1 last night, that was a bit of a struggle, but I did it.
Unfortunately, I did notice my treadmill had moved about a foot back from where I started.
Can't wait until it finally cools off some and I can go to the park and do my walk....

So I kept my promise and I started W4 this morning. Its about 10 degrees hotter here at 6:30 am than i'm used to at home, so I was sweating up a storm, but I actually felt pretty good going through the 5 minute runs. It wasn't easy and I was working hard for the last minute, but I felt pretty good when I was done.

I'm having some soreness in my right knee that's been growing over the last couple of days. I tried to ice it a bit today after my run and will try that again tonight. funny part is, it doens't hurt when I'm running, but gets sore later in the day, especially after sitting at my desk for a while. I hope its just my body getting used to the beating of running and not anything serious.

Great job - way to get it done!

As for your knee, maybe it is your IT band tightening up? It seems to be a common problem for runners. There are specific stretches and massages you can do to with a foam roller to alleviate the pressure - just google or youtube to find them. Around week 7 of C25K, I broke down and bought a foam roller after hearing so many raves about it. It kinda hurts when you are working out sore muscles, but I found it really does help me recover quicker and work out any knots/soreness in my legs.

aboard! There is a lot of inspiration here. Keep us posted on how you are doing. I just finished C25K this week and am planning on starting Bridge to 10K in a week. We leave tomorrow for Disney. So not sure how much running I will get in.
