So the diagnosis is tendonitis. He gave me a patch to try and some exercises to do and said when I can hop on thateg without pain, I can ease back into running. He dais start with 2 miles alternating running a lap walking a lap. Then increase to run 2, walk 1. Hope I can get back to 2 miles so I can back to 3 and finish C25K. You can do it! Just do what he says and don't try to do too much to fast. You will be back to where you were in no time.

Thanks. I just did the exercises he said to do, and sadly they were a lot harder than I thought they would be. I guess I really do need to do more strengthening.

Just take it slow and I'm sure you'll be back in no time.

We have plenty of training time until the end of February!

I changed things up yesterday. I have been running for time on the program, but a friend who runs alot said he doesn't really like doing that and suggested my times might be faster if I run for distance. I decided to give it a go and try to run 2.5mi and it was a success!

My pace improved to 11:14

That was also the longest I have ever gone just running. I wanted to stop so many times (especially in the last 1/2 mi), but I was not going to do it. I do plan on taking walk breaks at some point between now and 1/2 marathon training, but don't know at what point to begin incorporating that. Thoughts?

Ugh. I hope you are feeling better real soon and can get back on the program.

We did 17 minutes last night, so we are still working up to that 20 minute run. We made it 1.5 miles in that time. We jogged just a bit more during the 1.5 miles back home, but nothing worth mentioning. Slowly, but surely, we are getting there.
We run again early tomorrow morning and I'm hoping the lower temps will help us pull out the full 20 minute run.

You are doing great! Keep it up and you will be at 20 min in no time!!!

I need a Conga Line of Bananas:
We ran two full miles this morning, total time: 23 Minutes!

I'm 38 and I don't think I have ever run a straight 2 miles in my life. I am just so excited that I can do this!!!

Keep up the good work everyone. If you are like me and have never, ever been a runner, not even in your youth. You can do this!

My knee is feeling a lot better. Tomorrow I am going to try to do a 2 mile walk and see how it holds up. If that goes well then Wednesday I will try to run a bit. I'll do what the doc said and run a lap, walk a lap. I can finally walk up and down the stairs like a normal person again. I can hop on it without any pain. Although, I did just take some more advil and have the pain patch on it. Icing seems to really help so I've been trying to do that at least twice a day. DH just started doing C25K so I can't let him kick my butt!

How has the weather been out by you? It's just been hot here. We had a few days break from the crazy heat. Now it's just normal NJ in almost August hot and humid. Usually the evenings aren't too bad so I try to get out then.

I finished Week 7 today

I did 2.5 mi in 29:10. On to Week 8!!!

I'm off to look for 5k's in my area. And after this weekend, the registration price for the Princess half goes up, so I may be registering really soon!
