We are cheap - or budget minded.
We always pay OOP.
We are DH, DW, and 2 teens DD & DS - all adult prices, but DD sometimes get an adult appetizer then the childrens entree, such as mac&cheese, pasta or chicken fingers.

We stay in a resort with a refrigerator and a gift shop which sells milk containers.
Our plans - breakfast in the room = products we packed or bought (fruit, donuts, gramola bars, cereal, water bottles) in a food store on our way to WDW (car service).

Lunch/Dinner = TS $24-35/adult or CS @ $8-12/adult = $47 a day per adult or less.

Examples:
MK:
Late breakfast TS (for lunch on an early entry MK morning) = CP $22.99 adults
Dinner CS = Cosmis Rays (around 4:30 PM) = 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken - with Mashed Potatoes and a seasonal vegetable $9.69
Back to resort - use the pool have a snack from our products we have in our room, relax, go to DTD or BW in the evening and walk around.

EPCOT:
Lunch CS = Electric Umbrella, Chicken Nuggets - 8 pieces served with grapes or fries $7.89 or Bacon Double Cheeseburger - served with fries or grapes $8.09
use our own water bottles for drinks
Dinner TS = Garden Grill, $34.99 Adults

By eating breakfast in our room - we can spend more on lunch and dinner.
I do not like paying $10 for pancakes, eggs and bacon, when they only cost $2 - $3 to make yourself and does not take alot of culinary talent.

What a great thread! We are staying offsite for the first time ever, and I calculated that *if* we were staying onsite with the dining plan, our cost would be ~$195/day. So, I am budgeting $200/day, which actually seems very doable after reading this thread. I am excited about the prospect of just eating whatever we want, whenever we want, and not worrying about maximizing credits, but right now I think we have way too many TS scheduled to fit in the $200/day budget. I'll be looking to this thread for inspiration!

Here's my MK day (starting with a hearty sit down breakfast at my hotel - OKW) Prices are from allearsnet.

Breakfast:
Olivia’s:
Banana Bread French Toast - topped with Bahamian Banana Rum Butter Sauce, vanilla whipped cream, and your choice of Bacon, Sausage, or Ham $10.99
Freshly brewed coffee $2.39
10.99 + 2.39 X 1.245 (18% tip + 6.5% tax) = $16.66

Lunch:
Tony’s Town Square:
Mixed Greens - tossed in our House Dressing topped with Feta and Croutons $5.49
Seasonal Soup $5.49
Ice Water Free
5.49 + 5.49 X 1.245 = $13.67

Dinner:
Casey’s:
Hot Dog Meal - served with French fries $6.59 x 1.065 = 7.02

Snack:
Cosmic Ray’s
Brownie (no sugar added) $2.39 x 1.065 = 2.65

Total for the day: 2.65+7.02+13.67+16.66 = $40

Wow, I love the sound of the banana bread french toast. Boy, that sounds good. I would like to try it.
Good looking menu.
What I love about this thread, is it shows me all kinds of things I haven't tried, or even knew about.
And it is so freeing, to not be tied to DDP credits, using them, but eat wherever, whatever you want.

DHS would be the easiest day to stick to the $40 rule for me:

Breakfast:
Starring Rolls
Chocolate Croissant $2.39
Low-fat Milk $1.49
2.39+1.49 x 1.065 = $4.13

Lunch:
Sci Fi Dine In
Milk Shake - oreo cookie flavour $4.69
Seven Bean Beef Chili - with shredded cheddar, pico de gallo, and tortilla strips $6.99
4.69+6.99 x 1.245 = $14.54

Dinner:
50’s Primetime Café
Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken - served with mashed potatoes, chicken gravy and southern greens $15.99
Ice Water (free)
15.99 X 1.245 = 19.91

Snack:
Anaheim Produce
Piece of whole fruit 1.29
1.29 x 1.065 = 1.41

4.13+14.54+19.91+1.41 = $39.99

I'm still around. I've been hiding because I'm ashamed that I haven't finished Epcot yet for the formula! I'll get it done though and in the mean time perhaps I'll do a couple of other $40 a day examples.

Stay tuned!!

PrincessTricia, that looks great!
I would have to skip the fruit so I could change the fried chicken to pot roast.
I am not a fried chicken fan (apparently one of the few on the planet).
I love chicken dishes, just not a fried chicken fan.
It looks like a fabulous day to eat.
Thanks for more contributions.

Welcome back stayhomemom77.
Looking forward to more of your postings.
I guess I don't understand the formula reference.
I need to go back and reread the whole thread again, after I eat something.

These are great options! What about those of us with kids around the ages of 9...give or take? I just don't feel my 9 year old would fare well eating choc croissants or danish for the duration of our trip.

However, please keep in mind I just read the last few posts.
