Glad you got all your ARD's.

For Ohana's you might want to get there a bit early and then let them know you are trying to catch the fireworks on the beach. Since it is buffet but it served, they bring it to your table so you may want them to pace the meal a bit to get you done by 9:20 or so.

I have 2 great meals and 1 really slow meal there. I remember almost running to get to the beach because I left plenty of time ( like 2 hours ) and the pacing was so slow we almost did not see fireworks.

We have watched the fireworks from 'Ohana's twice. Neither time were we next to a window, but we could see well enough, and the sound was broadcast over the speakers.

Your ADR list looks great! Lots of really good places on there.

I just noticed Liesa's recommendation of a '40's band at the Hollywood Brown Derby. I think that's a fantastic idea! I wonder if it may be too costly? If they already fill it, they may not feel the need for the extra expense. But that would be so cool.
Thanks Glenn. Need to get organized with the next buch of pictures.

I love the HBD idea as well. And I think Disney should not only do things which are necessary to fill some place, I love it that they also provide "unnecessary" entertainment - like Devine at AK or Streetmosphere at DHS. Without it it wouldn't be the special place that it is. But I know what you mean...

We are very excited about all the places... Will see about Food and Wine. Katharina's food intolerances will be a bit hindering for that and then there are quite a few countries that we will feel comfortable to skip because they are too close to home (Germany, Poland etc.). But I hope for some interesting booths as well.

I agree and it looks like Jiko is moving into that direction again after some years where it seemed to lose a bit of its focus.

Thanks! I think being able to walk to two parks will be a great bonus! And the fact that it is something new and exciting!

That is one thing which I did not get done when I actually stayed at the Poly. The temptation to hop on that boat and actually be in the MK for the fireworks was just too big! But since it will be a party night at the MK, it would cost quite a lot of money to see Hallowishes from inside the park, so the beach will be a great substitute. I also think that I will like it much better than the view from the CG or Narcoossee's since it will be centered around the castle. I have quite high expectations!

Yes, that was my experience as well. It really helps me to slow down. But I feel like this next trip will be much more relaxed than previous trips. I used to be one to go on rides over and over again, but Katharina isn't so much into that (unless it is Big Thunder Mountain in Paris - the best roller coaster Disney ever built! ). So I think this will really help to just enjoy my sourroundings much more and relax, watch people etc.

I think a band playing those tunes would really add a cool addition- they could play that awesome song from the end of Nemo- Somewhere, Beyond the Sea.
That's interesting. I don't think ballroom dancing here in Germany has a big revival, but then I don't know any 17 year olds... But ballroom dancing here is actually a bit different from US ballroom. There are different dances and especially swing isn't included...

Oh and you mention a song by one of my favourite artists: Somewhere, Beyond the Sea - it is sung by Robbie Williams, an English singer (formerly a member of the boy group Take That) who apparently is basically unknown in the US? Here in Europe he is one of the biggest stars of the last decade. He has a wonderful album - Swing When You Are Winning - which has some old classics as well as some new songs (and one is even a duett with Nicole Kidman).

This year will be different, but I still think it is good that we picked a kind of comforting restaurant at a very well known location for us for the first evening (or do you count it as second evening?).
I know what you mean about a second chance... I really hope that Artist Point will be able to wow us! And I am sure you will like CG much better when we are there for the sunset.

And I think Jiko counts as our first evening. Who knows when we will arrive at BWV and I always think that arrival day is only a blur anyway. Which will not prevent me from dragging you into Epcot for Illumination if we have the time for that!!

Thanks for reminding us to just ask for what we need! But I think we will be allright. So far everything was rather tasty (only this one very unfortunate salad experience at La Cantina in 2008 was really dreadfull...). But I hope Katharina will be a bit more couragous with the chefs when they aren't really making an effort to find somthing which will work for her. And I am determined to ask for the bread - wether Katharina can eat it nor not!!

Thanks!! And I agree - you can't judge a restaurant after only one meal. So the ones which appeal in theory get a second time!

Or, you can cancel all of your ADR's and just gorge yourself on Dole Whips all week. I don't see anything wrong with this choice, either.
I can totally understand that people have different tastes! And I think we do have some comfort food places as well. I think Olivia's falls into that category as well, just has a strange location for most travellers. But I don't think eating only Dole Whips for 11 days will make us happy travellers, so I will not follow your suggestion!!

The strange thing is that I haven't been able to open up the +10 days window again after that first success. I still need to make the breakfast ADR for our very last day. But I am not worried since we will be very flexible about time on that one.

I did my 30th in WDW as well and my parents came along too!

Viel Spass beim planen...

Hallo und Willkommen notaprincess!

Are you from Germany as well? It seems like celebrating the 40th birthday at WDW appears to be quite common here on the boards... But I think it is a wonderful idea and combining it with a cruise sounds pretty good to me. I originally had thought about including a cruise in my birthday trip as well, but then I ended up spending quite a bit of money on buying DVC points so the cruise will have to wait. I would love to do one of the transatlantic cruises!

There is a link to my OKW trip report in my siggie, but you might struggle to get through it since I wasn't so well versed in adding Chapter links, (it is only about 4 pages long though, so......) I did it pretty much live while we were there and I talked about our meals, but no formal dining reviews or anything. But I'm pretty sure I told what we had and how everyone liked it, so maybe it will help a little.
I am really getting quite excited about Olivias. The more I read about it, the more I think I am really going to enjoy it. I know that you loved OKW and I think I read your report many months ago, but will go back and check what you wrote about the restaurant. Thanks for reminding me of that source!

So would you say that we should go for breakfast or for lunch (assuming that dinner and lunch menu are somewhat similar)? I think lunch might be more interesting since breakfast is just normal breakfast fare?

Thanks! I am really looking forward to all our meals as well. And I think since we now know how things work with the special diets, Katharina might be a bit more at ease during those discussions with the chefs.

I think you don't need to worry about the ADRs. There isn't any free dining in October. So I guess things will be rather relaxed at most restaurants. The only place which seems to nearly fill up at 180 days is 'Ohana (well, of the restaurants on my list, we don't have any real character meals).

Thanks for the 'Ohana tip! This was kind of what I figured... I have read reports about horrible waits at 'Ohana and I am prepared that things might not work out. But I am determined to not let anything spoil my mood and just take things as they happen.

Thanks for that info! I was wondering whether it was visible from inside. So this is good to know that if things don't work out, we still will have some fireworks experience!

It's true! And I agree with you about the ease of the online ADR system. I love it. It's so much more efficient than having to call. Plus you get those nifty confirmation emails too.

I'm sure Katharina will do great this trip too since she's already had experience with the chefs. I feel much more confident myself now that I've had one trip with my food allergies. Just remind them that there isn't any dairy in eggs.

Hallo, ja ich bin auch aus Deutschland! But living in the Middle East currently. I do love the idea of DVC, but as I'm not sure about job security, I'm a bit hesitant taking that step. I guess one can always rent points...

Like you said, the option of cruising will be around for a bit. A transatlantic cruise is on my bucket list too. Did it once, but as employee for a smaller cruise line.

have the most magical trip with your sister!

Ladies I am truly sorry for being missing. We got back from our WDW trip on April 8th and I just had so much to catch up on! I am caught up now and think that your ADR's look fantastic! DH and I ate at 'Ohana this last trip and we really enjoyed it!! We had a fantastic view of the Grand Floridian and castle. Heaven! The food was very much to DH's liking, anything meat!! One day I will convince him to go to a signature restaurant on Disney property.

I love the pictures so far from Disneyland Paris! I can't wait to see the rest of them!

Oh, and by the way, I will be there the same time as you two. October 16-21!

It is a great view, almost better than being inside the park. You get the music piped in on the beach, scoot toward the speakers to really hear it well. I grab a drink to go from the Tamu bar and grab a lounge chair or the swing and relax and enjoy. I think you will be pleased even with your high expectations.
