Whats complicated are things like Disneyland saying that DCA opens at 10 when they open at 9:30 many times. If I never joined this website I would have never known. Also what's complicated is Disneyland not posting are there site that you can get 8 day park hopper. I had to call and get thia confirmed that they do but in a complicated fashion. What's complicated is checking Disneyland calendar for Matterhorn refurbishment clicking on day in July and then they take me back to today date. Maybe complicated not the right word. Maybe annoying.

It sounds like if you never came to this forum or found out about 8 day tickets it would have seemed less complicated/annoying to you. Ignorance is bliss. Knowledge is power. But knowledge can be complicated.

other opening times

Thanks HydroGuy for all the help to us newbies! I just looked through your TR for Sept 2010. We are going similar time this year - starting Thursday Sept 22. How much earlier does DL open then posted time? When do you suggest getting in line for such a great spot at rope drop? How were crowds that time of year? Thanks for the great pics. I am so excited to see the fall and halloween decorations.

Not sure I understand your question. Except for Magic Morning when DL is only partially open, DL does not open before its posted time. It does let guests onto Main Street on some days before it opens in order to reduce lines at the front gate. To get to the front of rope drop you should arrive at the gates 30-40 minutes before the official opening time.

Crowds were moderate. I was there Saturday night, all day Sunday, and through Monday afternoon. Monday had very light crowds and reduced park hours - typical for off-season weekdays.

Has any of this changed since Little Mermaid opened? We are staying at GCH and hope to use the perk from staying onsite to see it.

Also, can you get a World of Color Fastpass first, entering through the GCH (as a hotel guest) and then make it to Little Mermaid? Wondering how bad the lines will be early using the hotel guest Fastpass line. Is this a regular Fastpass line or is it only for DLR hotel guests?

This is what I'm hearing...

The Little Mermaid ride will be open starting half an hour prior to park opening (I assume just like Soarin' is) for on-site guests. The fastpass line is temporary (only for the summer), only for on-site guests, and only using the 2 special fastpasses issued to each guest at check-in - so there will be no FP machine. I don't know the relative number of FPs issued this way compared to FPs issued by a typical machine, so it's hard to say, but I'm guessing the FP lines will be pretty short. Not everyone with the special FPs will use them on the Little Mermaid - Star Tours will also be very popular for these, I think.

Just posted a different thread - we stayed at the Grand Cal this weekend and never used the special fastpasses for little mermaid. Between 9-9:30, hotel guests can ride if you show your room key, and there was absolutely no line. This was with the Grand Cal being 100% full (overbooked even, according to the check-in CM). And there was plenty of time to pick of WOC fastpasses along the way. In fact there was a cast member there who wasn't even using the machine, just asking how many tickets you wanted. Definitely get there before 9:30 and the masses show up though. The line was instantly over an hour.

Is Soarin' still open at 9:30, too? We were planning to swing over to DCA from DL at 9:15 to run in, go through Soarin' single rider and then head back to TSMM. I was figuring we would be in line for the rope drop and walk with purpose back there as I figured many would be going to LM. Beginning to think I'm wrong with that thinking... Also beginning to think there's no way for me to truly "plan" this time around with LM and ST crowds. Oh well... We'll have a blast, no matter what!

Soarin open at 9:30 has been the case for the last 7 years ta least. Still the case. Good luck.

Since the Little Mermaid ride opened last Friday it appears Disney is letting DL hotel guests ride it at 9AM and everyone else at starting at 9:30AM.
Wish I could combine these and get on LM earlier than 9:30am with a receipt from a GCH breakfast. Anyone try this?

My trip is next month and I still don't have a clear plan for Little Mermaid and WoC! Last year we did the picnic, but the food was not great, so i'm wondering if it's still worth the $ to get a picnic just to get the WoC FP. And it sounds like hitting Mermaid first may not be the best strategy if you're not staying onsite. I've already concluded rope drop for Toy Story is time wasted. What to do, what to do?!
