Fun Picture Taking

On our last trip, we took photos of wonk eyed princesses. We started noticing that many of the eyes on the painted figures were crazy looking or way off. It was something silly and fun to do while we waited on the nieces in the gift shops.

We are trying to think of a new picture taking theme this time around. Any ideas? The more random, the better.

And I present a few wonk-eyed princesses so you get what I mean....

How about trying to get a picture of 50 CM's name tags from 50 different states...

...how's that for random?

A regular poster over here always "poses" for the on ride photo shoots! Example: Going down splash mountain they pretend to have tea, or going down Everest they play cards, that always is good for a laugh!

I like the nametag thing though! Cool idea!

That's an awesome idea. Maybe go to the parent of the kids and ask them if you can photograph the meltdown for your "Pheeeew - no kids?" album.

OR another, photograph the parents of the meltdown kids for the "Do you know how much I'm spending on this trip for you?" album.

Trust me, Meltdown pics are near impossible to get without running the risk of getting punched in the face or have some parent getting security to escort you off the lot for being creepy.

Not that it happened to me...

Our cat sitter wanted me to get video/pics of crying kids for an art project as payment for watching our beasts. I think on a two week trip I managed to get 3 total. And even then I felt weird doing it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

I mean, if you start taking pictures of people's kids without their permission they aren't likely to take that well. And, if you ask for permission in the middle of them dealing with a meltdown they aren't likely to respond from a position of relaxed vacation enjoyment.

Personally, I do think that if you are planning to take pictures that are intentionally of other people you should ask them for permission, kids or adults. (When the goal of your picture is something else, like the castle, and there just happen to be 20 people in the picture, I think that's a different story, but, if your goal is a person it feels disrespectful not to ask first.)

The 50 states nametags sounds more interesting to me. If you wanted to stretch it, 50 states and how many other countries?

That's what I thought when I first read it, so, I didn't respond. But, then, people sounded like they were taking it seriously, so, I did too.

Ah well...I think you may have confused us by getting all sappy over in the small moments thread.

I do find that since traveling with my nieces and nephews I have less sympathy for parents whose kids are melting down with exhaustion. If your kid can only handle 4 hours of park stimulation, why are you trying to get in 16 hour days?

Some kids are going to melt down regardless of what you do and I feel for those parents. However, when I see the same family dragging along with the kids begging to go back to the hotel and then I see a meltdown I wonder if it's really worth all this money just to experience public meltdowns.

We do actually count the ones we see - but only the epic ones.
