Unusual fastpass question

I have an unusual fastpass question. My wife, son and I all have annual passes. I am an early riser; my wife and son are decidedly not! We are all staying at Boardwalk.

What I'd like to do is hit rope drop by myself, but with all of our annual passes in hand. Then, with just me in the park, i would like to get fastpasses to Toy Story Mania and save them for later in the day when my wife and son join me.

So the question is, will my wife's and son's annual passes still spit out fastpasses, even though they haven't checked in to the park?

Thanks!

- Erin

No. A ticket can't be used to obtain a fastpass unless it has been through the turnstiles that day.

Huh. Interesting. I guess it makes sense, thanks for the reply!

No. Any pass that has not been accepted at a turnstile of that park for that day will not give fastpasses. You will get a ticket printed that says "Not A Valid Fastpass".

At the fastpass issuing location they would want to see the people who the tickets belong to for any Guest Recovery.

And at the tunstiles if you try to use multiple passes you could possibly end up discussing the matter with Security.

I think it was asked at least three times that I saw this week so far...

They have to do this. Otherwise, you could buy some extra tickets but not use them, and get extra Fastpasses whenever you wanted.

There was an unconfirmed report I heard that at TOT, the FP kiosks became disconnected in such a way that not only could you get a FP with your ticket, but with any appropriate media (like in the very early days of FP). It wasn't long before it was fixed though.

Have on occasion "announced" I will be walking over to EPCOT or DHS in the am to get a couple FP's, and sometimes a few walk over with me to get in the gate and then they go back to the room. That way the park passes are valid.

Disney folks sure have to think ahead, don't they? With the thousands of people that walk through their gates each day scheming up ways to get an unfair edge over the rest of the crowd, they have to be on their toes to keep things as fair as possible for everyone.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not calling out the OP here. I would do the same thing if I could and think it's a clever idea. But technically, for the good of WDW in general, it is probably for the best that folks aren't allowed to do that.

It would be nice and IMHO appropriate for you o be able to get FP's for your sleepin family...
The problem is, if people were able to do this, they'd also be able to borrow their neighbors AP's and get double FP's for their whole vacation...it would really throw off the system. I'd suggest having them go through the turnstile with you and then hand you their tix and head back to bed....
I have gotten extra's for my DH by just waiting for my window and then using my own ticket to get another FP for the same ride..but that won't work well at all for TSM!

The idea of having them go through the turnstyles and then going back to bed seems like an extreme waste of time just for a fastpass. I suppose if anything, one person could just collect a few throughout the day and then they could all use them as a family later on. But still, I'd prefer to stay together as a family, it's vacation afterall.

They're staying at the boardwalk...so it's not such a big deal...
And yes, collecting throughout the day is a good idea....but will not work for TSM - which is what OP wants. TSM will be all gone after his second one...maybe even after the first.
So, if they want to sleep more, Dad can have a whole afternoon's worth of FP's waiting for them...all they have to do is go through the turnstyle and then head back to bed till later.

Depends, BCV to EPCOT is a 5 min walk-10 minutes may not be extreme when Soarin and TT are 90 minutes when the crew arrives after lunch-and all FP's are gone as well. I certainly dont think an early riser should sit on the bed and watch the fam sleep for 3 hours just to "stay together". Creating a relaxing/efficient evening including dinner/FP's/Illuminations is far more productive/enjoyable for us.

We often do this even after everyone is up and at it. As long as you can get to Soarin/TT around 10-11, one person can walk over and collect passes while the rest rest/lunch/swim at SAB. Same with BLT and MK.

These resorts are huge time savers in this regard. We would never do that with bus waits/rides.

I agree. By the time they were up and to the turn style, would they even be sleepy enough to go back to the room. It's not like there are any turn styles right outside a room. We're talking at least an hour between waking up and laying back down again. Seems like a waste at 8am. If you could get into the turn style at 4am, then sure. But to go back to bed at 9am...or later. Waste of time.
