A note on working at home.

When you have to come into work for a meeting or something. Do not complain to people that you aren't happy about coming in because you had to get dressed!

I run the Help Desk at my company, and one of our work from home women complained to me about having to get dressed to come in. Pass the brain bleach, please!

We've gone from 100+ people 3 years ago, now to about 6. Three people quit and their last day was this week. All of our IT and development talent are gone. They don't seem to care about who's left, won't tell us anything, promising us "details to come", etc. It's all a bunch of BS. I feel bad for my clients who are unaware of whats going on and my fellow employees that have decided to stick it out until the bitter end.

But two weeks ago, I submitted my resume' to a very large nationwide bank. I got a call a few days after submission for an interview. Interview went amazingly well. Everything I do currently, is what they're looking for, for the position they're trying to fill. The lady to interviewed me and I got along SO well, laughing and joking by the end of the interview. In fact, it didn't feel like the typical interview. The next day I had a call from the recruiter and asked when I could start. I'm going through all the typical background checks, employment and address verification, finger printing, etc. I should have the final word that everything checked out ok by end of week or next Monday. I'm already going through the onboarding process. I haven't turned in my two weeks until the checks come back ok and they tell me to turn in my two weeks to my current employeer.

Five months of serious depression, almost gone in an instant.

The company has the most amazing benefits package that I've ever seen. The two biggest things is that I got a nice pay increase and I get to work from home! Two things I honestly didn't expect, especially being able to work from hom. They're very big on the work vs home/life and balancing the two.

Now I just sit and bite my nails until the background checks come back as OK. Waiting is killing me.

Anyhoo....felt like it was a reason to come back to the forum and share.
Congrats!!!! The new job sounds fantastic!

Congratulations on the new job! I wish I had the discipline to be able to work from home. I need the "working" environment or I'd procrastinate until the late hours of night to meet my deadlines.

LOL hmmmm, not sure about that, but I would definitely be working in my jammies.

And thanks everyone. I completed the fingerprinting yesterday and the I9 verification. This place is like fort knox and they don't mess around. I've completed all of the onboarding stuff now and just waiting on the final confirmation so I can turn in notice.

Now to plan that Disneyland trip that we've put off because of our lives being in limbo.

Oh and get this, I'm probably going to be turning in my notice beginning of next week more than likely. I was called into the "big bosses" office yesterday and I got worried. No one gets called in there. I sit down and he said, oh by the way here's this years bonus. Thanks for the hard work.

I felt so guilty. For about a minute.......

You don't know how bad I want to just go on a crazy shopping spree!

Over the past 6 months while all this stuff was going on at my current job, I stopped spending and charging and concentrated on paying off all of my 6 credit cards. I just paid off the 5th one today so I only have one left to pay off, which will only take me a couple more months. Not shopping for anything except items we need, has been brutal. Especially when Kenneth Cole sends me an email and says that there's 50% additional off all sale stuff. Ugh.....

So now I'm not as paranoid about spending, so I'm thinking maybe a baby shopping spree is in order and treat my partner to something nice.
