Pop Century Resort Preferred or Standard room?

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any info. We are in process of booking a room at pop century and I was wondering what the difference is between the standard and preferred rooms. Is it worth it.
Thanks Arnie

Preferred at Pop means you will be in close walking distance to the food court and that you will be right by the main pool. When we went, we booked a standard room. I made a request to be in the 50's section in building 3. My request was honored and It was literally a one minute walk longer than than the preferred rooms. Keep in mind that requests are not always granted, so if you do not want the possiblity of walking a distance to the food court, i would book preferred.

Honestly, unless you have a serious aversion to walking a few extra feet-save the money. It's only a few minutes from any one of the buildings to the main hall & buses.

Just posted the same info on another thread:

We didn't pay for preferred. We requested building 4 facing the lake. That's exactly what we got. It was about 30 steps to walk out by the giant Play Doh, so we weren't that far from the preferred rooms. We loved our location. It was very quiet (other than some construction noise from all the building across the lake at the new Animation resort, but not enough to bother us).

A friend of mine paid for preferred and requested building 4 (for location to food court/lobby). She got building 4 facing the pool. She asked to be moved after the first night because of the noise level at the pool. She said it was loud well past 10 pm and she has a young daughter.

I guess it would depend on where you end up with preferred, but it wasn't worth the money for us and worked out well that we were only a few doors away from preferred anyhow. The 60s is a great location. Very close to everything.

We didn't pay for preferred and boy did we regret it!! We were FOREVER away from the main hall and pool, the fastest way was through the parking lot. It was awful. We asked to be moved and they had a room available the next day. From here on out, we'll pay the extra $$ for a close room.

Just request the 60's section lakeview rooms (these are standard) and you will have a lovely peaceful view and yet be almost as close as you can get to the main pool and dining. This is where we stayed the two times we went and I loved it! It was close to everything but away from the noise of the pool.

I would book preferred. You will walk tons at the parks and it isn't that much more for preferred. I have stayed both of those types of rooms and some of the non preferred rooms are a FAR walk.

Not until after you check in. If the room is not ready when you check in, they will tell you which building it's in but will not give you the room number. You can call or receive a text message to find out when the room is ready.

ITA, esp with kids. After a LONG day in the parks it sure helps to have your room closer. JMO.
