Pre and Post cruise night stay

We are coming into MCO the afternoon before our cruise in Jan and I think we want to stay somewhere close. Then when we return to port want to spend that night at a Disney hotel on property. Any suggestions as to where to stay and the best plan for transportation.

P.S. First time cruisers here
Myself DS 22, DS 11, DS 8.

We always stay at WDW before and after. Always rent a car as well.

First 2 cruises we stayed in Cocao Beach but to be honest it is not that far and the kids love the night on Disney Property so for the last 2 we stayed on site. Took Magical Express to WDW and then shuttle next morning to rent a car. There is a big savings renting a card off site and avoiding Disney Transfers.

Disney transfers (bus from WDW to the port and back) are $35 per person each way. Family of five that would be $350.

A limo service, such as Happy Limo (check it out on line) would be cheaper.

A rental car will be even cheaper. You can either park it at the port, or do two one-way rentals. There are several rental agencies right at the port, tho it can be a hassle with the shuttles to/from the agencies.

Since WDW is just an hour from the port, it would be more fun to stay on site. Or you can stay at Country Inn and Suites with a view of the port and (if you're up that early) you can watch the ship arrive. Radisson also has a hotel nearby. Just do a Google search of Port Canaveral (Cocoa Beach) hotels.

Country Inn gave me the number for Cocoa Beach Shuttle and for a family of 4 it is $78 from MCO to the hotel. I didn't think that was bad at all
