WWoHP in July 2011

Me and some friends are going to Orlando to visit Universal on the 14th and 15th July this year.. we booked without realising that there is a Harry Potter Convention at this time and that the final HP movie comes out on the 15th.. these are really the only two days we have to see Universal... how crazy and insane will WWoHP be with all this going on?

My guess is insane as the conference had a 1000 room block at RPR that sold out already and the block at PBH sold out as well. Make sure you get a FOTL pass and that should help.

See if you can find their itinerary somewhere. Most of the time they are busy with activities during the day not in the park. That's at least 2000 people that won't be using Express. It might be better until they are set loose in the park

You should be fine, they did not have the 1000 room block as the hotel only has 1000 rooms, i think it was about 300 and added a few more, at RPR and PBH.
We stayed last year when HP convention was on at RPR, did not impact on the parks, as they had it to themselves with a special ticket for after 10pm, and never effected the resort, as they where at there convention.And would expect the same arrangements for the convention this year.
It will be crowded in July anyway.

Ditto- We were there for the convention last year and scheduled our time to visit WWOHP around their schedule. We were fine with FOTL and it was fun seeing the convention folks in costume. As for visisting WWOHP, definitely utilize the early access. July is normally more crowded and WWOHP was mobbed. Keep in mind it just opened last summer also. Just be prepared and have a wonderful time. We did!!!

oops sorry bout the room number typo. It must be that 1000 people have signed up for the conference so far. But I do know the room blocks in both hotels are sold out and that they have opened a block at the Crown Plaza resort. The schedule for events is not out yet but during the day of the conference most people should be at the hotel.

We had a great time in RPR last year, and the convention never impacted on the pool, similar to previous years.
The people dressing up was excellent ,with some great costumes, and we had a great night in Jakes Karaoke with a lot who where at the convention.
Actually looking forward to this year, would have liked to see the groups who are playing on the stage at RPR, but seems you need to register and pay, and way to expensive for just to see them playing
