Back to back reservation at same resort?
We have back to back reservations, at the same resort, the first seven night as a package with dining and one night as a room only. Just wondering if I would have to switch room? Or is there a way they could do it so we can stay in the same room and have it linked some how?

I have been wondering myself about that since we added a day to our ressie just today to the start of our trip but if discounts come out going into Oct, I would love to add on another day or two but not if we will have to change rooms, DH would not be a happy camper if he had to do that

Subscribing because I have the EXACT same situation here. Same resort with a room only booked on the end.

We did this last fall. When we checked in, I told them about the add on reservation and they arranged it so that we did not have to change rooms. Still had to check out and re-check in at the front desk, though.

Ask to have the reservations linked and then mention it again when you check in. If possible supposedly they will try to keep you in the same room. However, it did not work out for me in Oct 2009. I had to do a split stay at CSR because of how the AP discount dates fell. When I checked in, I had been placed on the top floor of Casitas 2. When I went down the next morning to check in for the second reservation, they told me I had to move to a first floor Cabanas 8A room.

We added an extra night to our stay at CBR in October and had to change rooms.

I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving and had a pin code that didn't start until Sunday.
I linked my reservations and did not have to move, but if I wanted the room next door to me, corner room, king bed, and no obstruction of a stairway from my riverview window convinced me to move the next day when it became available. Since they were connecting rooms, the maid opened up the other side for me and I just tossed my stuff in the other room that morning. |

We did this last year & we DID have to change rooms. It sounds like it's a 50/50 chance according to the replies on here. We did tell them at check-in & they linked our ressies, but it just didn't work out to our advantage. The hotel was full and the package we had that started on night 3 was for a lesser category room, so we had to go! It was a pain to move mid-stay but I knew it was a possibility, and it was my own doing to book 2 separate reservations to get a great deal, so I just smiled & packed up!

If it's for the exact same type of room, I don't see why they would make you move. We added a day to our trip last year and the reservation was linked and we did not have to change rooms. We just "checked in" again at the front desk when our package started (the night we added was on the front end) and we got new room keys, etc.
To me, if it's the same type of room, I can't see why you'd be moved to another room that's exactly the same.

This happened to us last summer at AKL and it was a royal pain in the neck. We asked them at check-in if there was any way to stay in the same room, but we were told that the resort was so heavily booked, that 2 separate rooms were reserved for us and we had to move. We had to bring our luggage to the front desk by 10, and then our new room wasn't ready until after 5 P.M. and it was (get this) about 4 doors down from our first room.
GRRRRRRRRRRR.......

Sounds like it depends on availability... we had this exact situation last fall at CBR, and we didn't have to change rooms. We did have to go by the front desk and get new KTTW cards.

Ugh. This is making me seriously rethink the package portion of our stay, and just going room-only the whole time. We're already switching hotels mid-trip, and once is enough.
Assuming you're staying the whole time in the same category room, I can't see why they don't treat your original check-in as check-in for the whole stay. If you're staying 6 days, they'd never make you move mid-stay. So why wouldn't they treat a 3-day package/3-day room only stay as a single 6-day stay, when they know in advance you'll be in that category room for 6 days? (Just for an example.) When I made my reservations, I asked the person taking our reservation about staying in the same room. She assured me that would be fine, and that Disney wanted that too because it's a faster/easier housekeeping job when not switching guests. |

We did this in May. I had a 5 night package and a 3 night room only reservation. The CM that I booked with linked my reservations. My confirmation paperwork for the first reservation said in the same section where my room requests were: "please note: cont to res XXXXXXXXXXXXXX". I confirmed with them at check in and when I paid off my room charge the night before the reservation changed. We had no problem. It also wasn't a very busy time.
I was fully prepared to change rooms if I had to. I'm not sure if I would do it again. I didn't care for the uncertainty in the middle of a vacation. But, for a substantial savings, it was worth it. |
