I believe it ranges from $49 to $99 depending on how far of a distance you are flying.

I was offered it to Baltimore in December, and it was $69 I think. It was worth it, since we were checking bags. Had some wine!!

I am assuming that if you have a connecting flight that you would have to upgrade for each flight.

If so can you only upgrade on the first leg of the flight? My flights are MSP-ATL-MCO. It is a short flight from ATL-MCO.

Here is my question.
Can this be done? If so, is that baggage free all the way to MCO? Is it 2 bags free or just 1?

I found some of the info. I can just do 1 segment, but I am not sure if the baggage would then be free for the entire trip if I just upgrade on the 1st segment.

You'll also enjoy these benefits that will upgrade your travel experience.

first and second checked bag fees waived
priority boarding so you're on and off the plane first
complimentary cocktails
AirTran Airways Business Class Upgrades — Starting at $49
All from just $49 to $129 over our very affordable full coach fare (Y class) or from $98 to $258 on connecting flights (see details below).

Upgrade Your Travel Experience
For the amounts listed below, you may upgrade at time of check in (web, kiosks, ticket counter or gate) on a first come, first served basis.

AirTran Airways Business Class upgrades are available for sale with the following fees per segment, per market, based on flight length. A segment is defined as one takeoff and one landing.

$49 for Short-Range Nonstop Flights
$69 for Medium-Range Nonstop Flights
$99 for Long-Range Nonstop Flights
$129 for Extra-Long Range Nonstop Flights

I was just about to copy and paste that for you from their website.

The baggage fee would only be waived on the leg you upgraded.

Anyone know if Airtran sticks to the "full coach fare (Y class)" rule? Believe mine is V class. I've always bought the cheapest fares and upgraded at check-in at the airport, when possible. Don't believe I've flown them since they started allowing upgrades online and I'd like to upgrade when we travel to WDW.....NEXT WEEK!!!!

At the airport on Wednesday, the flight next to ours was going to Atlanta. They announced the cost to upgrade to business class was $49, so it does not appear to be dependent on the fare you paid.

I had booked a really cheap ticket, and was offered the upgrade when I checked in online a day ahead of time. So I think it just depends on if they have seats.

Upgrades available on all tickets. Charges are $49, $69, $99 or $129, depending on distance. It is charge per segment. 2 checked bags, normally $20 and $25, are free. I would suggest doing the upgrade online, at the 24 hour mark, they can go quickly. If you are using points, 4 are needed, you can upgrade on the phone at midnight of the day before your flight. If you were flying at 8 AM on Wed, you could call at midnight Mon/Tues to upgrade on the phone. If doing it online at 24 hours, it is 24 hours exactly, not a minute (or a second) before.

And if you are using the points it is a TOTAL of only 4 for the whole flight - so if you are going from Bloomington to Atlanta with a layover and then onto Orlando the cost of credits from you rewards account is just 4 (not 8). If you are paying though you do pay separately for each segment/
