Great update! The fear of missing the car to the airport comes from watching Home Alone too many times!!!

That is a crazy time to fly (crazy Michelle) our flight was at 11:55am which was nice cause we didn't have to get up too early and we weren't really tired when we got there. BLT is so nice, I think we are going to stay at the CR again next trip, the convenience is worth the money!!!

Sorry to hear the BBB appointment didn't go well. I thought about it for my two, but decided to save the money. Heck, we didn't even pack and Princess costumes. Didn't occur to me at the time, so they are just wearing normal clothes when the met the Princesses. Would have been nice to have them both in Cinderella dresses when we had our CRT, but I wasn't going to spend $60 on the dresses at WDW.

Funny, I think between my wife and the kids, we saw every potty along the way as well.

Thanks Emma, yeah, we planned to go see the gingerbread house sometime anyways, so it worked out perfectly in the end.

yep, crazy Michelle! I always think more time in the world is great, but not when you are exhausted. So not doing that one again anytime soon. Yes, we loved the short walk to MK- it was so perfect (if it hadn't been so darn cold!)

Yeah, i felt so bad for her, I had NO idea she was upset at first. Her step mom even ordered her a Jasmine costume for it, but Lindsey said she didn't want to wear it. I was fine with that, whatever she wanted was fine. I felt so bad. yeah, no sense in spending so much on a princess dress there- heck you can probably get one on ebay really cheap!

Great updates! I love taking the early morning flights as well, but the lack of sleep certainly hits us halfway through that first day. But I agree it's so nice being at WDW early!

I feel so bad for Lindsey at BBB. What a bummer! Hopefully things went better as the trip continued.

By the way, Will is so cute. I love the Halloween costume!

WOW, what a novel. Great read and I am enjoying it so much. This is really getting me ready for our trip just a short couple of months away.

yeah, i am rethinking the early morning, we were all so darn beat by like 3pm, it made it hard to enjoy the rest of the day. Last year we took a later flight, arrived about 8 or 9pm on a friday night and so that made it easier to get a good night's rest. might try that in october.

yeah, i felt so bad for her, i had no clue she was so tender headed and trying to be brave about it.

LOL- yes, definitely a novel! but it helps me keep all the details of our trip in my head for my own strolls down memory lane. Where are you staying on your trip?

Saturday, December 4, Part III

So i left you off as we had just checked into our lovely room at BLT. I love saying BLT to non disney friends.....i have to keep in mind they are going to think i was staying at a sandwich shop or something. I noticed even many CM's didn't refer to it as BLT and gave me a look like 'what, where?' when i said it.

We loved the huge Mickey wreath on the window. I actually enjoyed our strolls across the skybridge to the CR each day. It was really windy and cold though out there!

Our original plan to have a nice long 2 hour or so nap just wasnít going to happen. We did just sit and lay down for a bit, but not long. We had to get to Epcot if we wanted to try and do any rides before our 8:15pm dinner reservation.

So we load up and decide to try the monorail over to Epcot. We stop at the TTC and do the nice long walk over to the other monorail to transfer and we are on our way. We arrive at 6pm and have to go activate our Annual Passes first. Why didnít I do this earlier when we had time to kill? Stupid me! We also pick up our MVMCP passes too, but I forget one crucial thing- our Tables in Wonderland card.

We finally make it in- MIL and Lindsey have 8 day hoppers and it takes them a little getting used to the finger scan and entry. We get in and see Spaceship Earth is a 20 minute wait, so we skip it. We know we can ride it another time with NO wait. So instead, we head to Innoventions. Lindsey saw a clip on TV or a video about the Raytheon Sum of All Thrills ride. I think she also saw the disneyquest version of build your own coaster. Iíve done the DQ one before, but not this one. By the time we head in, it appears Innoventions is getting close to closing time. The line is about 10 minutes long so Lindsey and I wait. Right behind us is a waste management exhibit, but Will is too tired to care. MIL, Alan and Will walk around some while we wait. I would highly recommend Sum of All Thrills, it was a fun experience and easy to do. The kids in front of us had obviously done it multiple times from the way they were talking. Lindsey and I created a fun ride called the Turbo Twister. We had a great time and I was happy we got to do something she really wanted to do. And something new for me- plus I used to work for Raytheon- for their Infrared division- we delivered handheld infrared cameras to the military, police, firefighters and FBI/homeland security. Great to see companies (although a big ad for them too) promoting science and math (neither of which are my strong suits, which is why I work in marketing!).

After our ride on Sum of All Thrills, we see Innoventions is closed- I think they close at 7pm? So we made our way out and over to Club Cool to sample some cokes of the world. Of course we have MIL try the Beverly! We all really love the China, watermelon flavored one. Hate the sticky floors here though. Will loves all the tiny cups and the trash cans in here too. He has fun throwing away all the cups.

We stop for yes, another bathroom break and then head out- Lindsey got a frozen coke on the way out. We see the large beautiful Epcot tree and head towards Mexico.

We head inside and ride the boat ride with no wait. Will really enjoys this a lot. Then we explored inside a bit and shopped. On the way out, we get the kids the Duffy the bear craft for the Kidcot station. Love kidcot, could care less about the new Duffy craft though- I much preferred the masks with the cutouts they tied on. Now they simply stamp the wood holder and write your name (if you ask) in their native tongue. I used to love when they also tied on a cut out too. The station was pretty crowded, so Will couldnít sit down to color it. Sort of annoyed me since it was about five 20 something year olds sitting there coloring so slowly. I donít mind them having fun too- but they were taking up the whole station and not in a hurry obviously while tons of little kids waited.

We still had a little time to kill before our ADR, so we headed over to Norway and showed MIL inside the Stave Church and saw the little Viking exhibits. Then off to the ride which we all enjoyed again. This had like a 5 minute wait or so. We bypassed the movie and gift shop, hoping to come back (and never did). By now it was time for our ADR. So we headed to the new Hacienda to check in. We were given a pager and told we could sit inside, which we did since it was getting really cold and windy now. Just a minute later they call us and we are seated near the back of the restaurant, by a window, but at a window near the wall where some of us could see, but not all of us unless we moved over some.

We were hoping to view Illuminations from our table and it appeared our view would be decent, but not great. I tried to not be disappointed. I ordered the black bean soup, but forgot to say no cactus leaves. I loved the soup, but had to dig around the leaves. I also had the queso fundido, which was good. Alan enjoyed the shrimp tacos, but didnít say they were spectacular, but good. MIL ordered the sample appetizer and enjoyed it a lot too. Will and Lindsey both had the kids beef taco meal. She was disappointed they didnít have a hard shell taco, only soft. She only really ate the beef, not the tortilla. Will wasnít really eating at all and getting extremely fussy and acting out. I mean who can blame the kid, heís been up since the crack of dawn (thanks mom!) and no nap. Hell, I was exhausted, you know he is. So as naughty as he was being, we couldnít blame him.

Sorry I don't have food porn pics, but i was trying to not freak out my MIL by taking pics of all of our food all the time! She already thought I was obsessed enough as it was and i promised myself this trip i would relax more and be in the moment instead of trying to always take pics.

We debated leaving since it was like 9pm and we were wrapping up and waiting on the check. I hated to leave and miss the whole purpose of this meal, to see Illuminations. But in the end, we decided to stick it out and Will started quieting down some in my lap. The waitress encouraged us to stick around of course. I am SO GLAD we stuck it out. It was so worth staying for. Illuminations started at 9:30pm and they dimmed the lights and our view was actually fantastic! Lindsey was in awe. Her dad called during the show (he works odd hours) and she was in such awe, she could barely speak and just put the phone down. Iíve always had a hard time catching Illuminations from a good vantage point, again, since we hate to wait, we donít typically line up an hour before for a good spot. We just walk up last minute to whatever spot we can get. So I was thrilled to get such a great view! Plus it was cold outside and we were all nice and warm inside enjoying it. We could hear the music piped in too.

We left right away when the show ended and fought the crowds out. The monorail was super crowded with long lines and we packed in. We were followed on the way out by chanting cheerleaders, although sounded like they were chanting in another language. So annoying! Just when we thought we lost thm, they were behind us again and then on the monorail platform too. So as we get on the monorail, we are all standing and I have the stroller and am pushed up as close to the door as I can and this cheerleader is right by the stroller with her mom. Her backpack kept swinging and hitting Will in his stroller, in his head. Annoying! Her mom saw it and told her to stop moving around and she did finally, but man, I have never been so happy to get off a monorail in my life. Finally got off, made the switch to the resort monorail and arrived home at 11pm and crashed! So tired!

Not sure how we made it all day long- 3:30am-11pmÖÖ..thatís one long day. Almost 19 hours straight would be enough or any adult, much less a 10yo or 3yo. I have to say, even with a few fits, they held up pretty well considering. Now the plan for sleeping arrangements- MIL was on the large pull out couch and Lindsey decided to use the pull out twin chair, which was a lot bigger than I expected. They left both pulled out the entire time, which drove my neat freak side a little nuts, but it was more practical than putting it up every day, especially since we took midday naps. We were going to try and get Will to sleep with MIL, but he wasnít having it, so he slept with us. The king size bed was plenty roomie for him though. We all crashed and slept hard, knowing we had a big day ahead and an early one at that!

up next..........day 2- breakfast with Pooh and friends, can we beat the rain at the MK, evening at HS with Osborne Lights and Sci Fi dine in!

Great updates! You guys really packed in a TON in your first day! Now, let's see if I can remember everything I wanted to comment on!

*Poor Lindsey! That stinks that she wasn't able to enjoy the BBB! I noticed that some of the FGIT's were much rougher than others! Lucky for us, Olivia has a tough head!

*Add us to the "we visited every potty in the World" club! Olivia has been potty trained for quite a while, but this was our first big trip. I also noticed how in some area's the potty's are really f a r away!

*I LOVE Earl of Sandwich at DTD!!! I am quite sad we never ate there this trip, oh well, I will make it a point to do it next time!

*I know what you mean about people think you are nuts for taking pictures of food...my DH thought I was insane! (More on that in my TR)! I did manage to get pics of about 95% of our food though!

*19 hours! That is one long first day! It sounds like Will and Lindsey did really well though!

I can't wait to read about your day 2!

Aw man! I forgot all about the coke thing. Oh well. someday.

My cousin made us some Passports for the kids. They had their pictures, names, ages, etc... along with a page for each country to get a stamp and an autograph. They loved it, and it is cool seeing the autographs in the native languages. Now if I had only thought to write down what they wrote since it was different for each passport. Oh well, guess I need to find people who know the languages to translate for me.

yeah, one year we actually flew in late and stayed in like a cheap holiday inn near the airport as we had to pick up another family member at MCO in the morning. worked out well for us. Plus, i figure if we go in the night before, maybe i can book us a room somewhere else to try out for one night, although moving rooms for one night would be a pain.

We love the coke thing- we actually went back again later in the trip. I imagine it is packed in the summer. What a great idea on the passports. Do you have a pic of them? I'd love to see them!

WELCOME!!! Yeah for December 2012! it's never too early to plan! Very cool and yes, very close to the ages of my son and niece too. They actually had a great time together and Will often asked to ride the rides with her.

WOW that is a LONG day I don't think I would have made it. Reading your report really makes me miss CR. I want to stay at the Poly but I so love the CR and the convenience, I'm sure by the time you are done writing this I will be staying there again.

I love Illuminations. This trip was the first time we saw it and it was just beautiful.

I always forgot to take food porn pics too. Next year I am going to skip the TR and take less pics and just relax and enjoy watching the shows and fireworks instead of worrying about getting a good picture

What a big day! But I always think arrival day is the best!

What did you think of La Hacienda? My DH and I ate there in October with some friends and we had mixed reviews on the food. I definitely loved the atmosphere though, especially during Illuminations! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it and had a pretty decent view. Can't wait to hear about Day 2!
