The preview I saw was 30 minutes! It's awesome!

AND tonight before the season premier @8:45pm there is a special 15 minute "opening night" countdown to the series start! Looks great!

WOW!

The casting was perfect. Just perfect. I'm so thrilled with what they've done with the book so far.

I was very happy....except that the premiere should have been LONGER!

I think even the most loyal fan is going to be hard-pressed to find anything but minor quibbles. My three "not quite as i imagined" ....Jaime isn't blonde enough...Tyrion isn't ugly enough...Catelyn is a bit too hard and worn.

Yes, yes and yes to your casting quibbles. IMO Ned appears a bit older than the Ned I imagined. I did think they all did a wonderful job in their roles, I just couldn't shake trying to make them fit the pics in my head.

Danerys is an amazing fit to what I pictured!

DH is a fan of the books and was waiting for this to start. I watched the end of it because it was recording....and I know it's HBO and I know the basics for the books, but I thought they went a bit overboard with the nudity and sex. I'm not a prude by any means...and DH isn't either, but he was a little taken aback. I just said..hey...it's HBO, lol. But, DH did agree that the casting was pretty spot on. He's now hoping the next book in the series will FINALLY be written and released.

Actually, believe it or not, HBO did not go overboard with the sex and nudity. Incestuous liasons, whoring and the general nakedness of the Dothraki are part and parcel of the Song of Ice and Fire. In fact, there was less nudity than there should have been (the scene where Catelyn gets the letter from her sister is done nude in the book).

Absolutely true. While I enjoyed watching the Tudors immensely, overlooking the historical inaccuracies, I could have seriously done with a lot less of the bodice ripping, etc. It felt unnecessary and gratuitous.

While Game of Thrones was a bit graphic, it was no more so than the books themselves.

The books had a ton more nudity and sex then the show has (so far at least).

I think HBO actually toned it down.

I have some bad news here... apparently the ratings weren't as good as HBO hoped. They are delaying releasing initial ratings until tomorrow so they can get all the ratings for each airing to try to paint them in a better light.

That's unfortunate as I really enjoyed this.

apparently you haven't watched many HBO series then.

That was tame compared to some.
