The photo of the sunflower was also very pretty.

We, too, have enjoyed the whole foods market near out hotel in NY. A nice place to go for healthy snacks and meals as well as to stock up for fruit and other essentials. Not the cheapest but the quality so far has been great.

Lucky you, being able to get ready for ANOTHER trip! Will hope over to the other PTR shortly
I went to Gordon Ramsay's Maze for dinner over the Christmas period. Hop on over for the food porn..

Final Thoughts

Thanks for sticking around and following my TR. I guess it is time to wrap this thread up and start pulling my head back into the real world (for the next trip ).

DH and I had spent 5 days in the US and 2 days flying for the pleasure of 3 days at the World. Before leaving for this trip, I got a lot of comments and jokes from my friends about how I seem to keep heading back to the US for holidays. The most asked question by far was whether returning to the same vacation spot bored me. I’m in the unique position where the travel opportunities to the US come up whenever DH has a business trip to make. And I love shopping in the US; plus being on a Disney property (LAND or the WORLD) never gets old for me. Perhaps it is because deep down, I want to be Peter Pan - the child in me that never grows up. The magic of Disney is that I revert back to that child, suspend disbelief and forget about the real world whenever I step on Disney soil.

The other question was whether all that flying for such a short duration would be worth it. In the end, my perhaps NOT possible trip ended up being 6 days on-ground in the US. Of course it was worth it! Aside from being able to shop, I spent 6 days being “me”. I found out that I still can be grumpy when I’m tired and that I still have a sense of humour and that I do really like taking photographs. And in my book, any time that I spend reconnecting with and discovering ‘myself’ is always worth the time, money and effort.

I also made what I hope will be a lasting friend in Firefly. I really had a great time hanging out with her and somewhere….I hope that I could tour with her again. If nothing else, I now have a friend to visit in the Windy City and am hatching long term plans for heading that way. Oh – and the photopass CD has arrived and Firefly has posted some pictures up on her TR. If you’re interested, the links are here:

WDW is, as always, a world unto itself. The privilege of being there when both the Food and Wine Festival and Halloween events were on made this trip a very special and memorable one. I am eternally envious of anyone on the DisBoard with multiple tickers and with umpteen subscribers to their PTRs and TRs because it is a sure sign that they are regular visitors to the World; something that the tyranny of distance makes it harder for us Aussies to do.

I learnt that:
  • Staying on-site has its pros and cons; but for me, I’m now of the opinion that I will always choose to stay on-site if I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to head to the World again.
  • You need at least 3 days just to enjoy every single F&W Blissful Bite; and lots of money (or snack credits).
  • MNSSHP was wonderful! I’m glad that I decided to hit both parties that were scheduled during my short stay. I still don’t know how I’m going to eat all that candy.
  • And I’m going to risk being flamed for this comment but I definitely need to spend more time in the Universal area!

Thanks again for hanging round my TR!

Post Script

After flying 2 days to spend 3 days at WDW, I’m not planning on another Mad Dash and am flying 15 hours one way to spend 1 day at Disneyland. PTR/TR link in the usual spot below….Hope to see you there!

Hey Princess...thanks for all the stories. I sometimes feel unfortunate because we are so far away from Disney that we can only go once a year, but you put it in perspective....it's only a 2-hour flight and might cost $200 round trip. While spontaeous trips aren't possible, we get to spend most of our trip AT our destination - not traveling to and from it!

I will check out your new PTR/TR, and will hopefully keep in touch as we start planning our 2012 trip down under!

I really don't know. In the end, we got a direct flight from San Francisco to Orlando, and that worked much better for us.
