Any Recent Experiences?

I am hoping our 12 & 13 year old will be able to order off of the children's menu at Narcoosee's and La Hacienda. If they tell us "no," then we will have to grab them something else to eat at a counter service restaurant. I certainly wouldn't order an expensive adult meal for them that would just sit on their plate.

Are you on the dining plan?

Narcoosees is a Disney operated restaurant but La Hacienda is not. Third party restaurants tend to be stricter about the dining plan. There's also been a few reports that La Hacienda wouldn't allow people over age 9 to order from the children's menu but I am not clear on whether or not these reports were from guests on the dining plan.

Not on DDP

We will be paying for meals on our own. No Disney Dining Plan credits to worry about.

I am pretty sure alot of people order off the kids menu but they cater to adults so it's adult prices with adult portions of what is usually the kids meal.

I don't mind paying a higher amount for the kid's option with adult portions. i just know that at La Hacienda my girls will want a basic cheese quesadilla. They love those.

If you don't want to pay for adult entrees for kids let them each order an appetizer. We don't have dining plan though. Our disabled adult daughter usually orders a salad or soup and appetizer like mussels Or sometimes she orders a salad of her own and we share entree

My DSs, both Disney "adults", ordered off the children's menu during our trip this April if that was the food they wanted to eat. No problems at all. We did not have the dining plan.

How about Be Our Guest?

Can adults at Be Our Guest dinner eat from the kids menu?

Thanks for this info! I have us booked for Coral Reef, but I was concerned that my older two boys (considered adults on the Dining Plan) wouldn't find anything they would like to eat from the adults menu. I don't mind being charged their adult credit at all, I just want them to be able to order something they will actually eat!

I have been wondering about Be Our Guest. DD 11 will probably want the kids grilled cheese and soup because that's something that she really loves. I have no problem spending an adult DDP credit on a kids meal. If they could give her an adult portion that would be great, but not necessary. I think she would eat the shrimp and scallops off the adult menu so we do have a backup option just in case.

The profit they make on the Dining Plan is based on economies of scale and predicting what's going to be eaten vs. what supplies they lay in for the largee numbers of people who buy their meals ahead of time. It's a different kind of economics than what you use at the grocery store to feed one family.

My mom doesn't really like to eat much when we go out to restaurants, so a kid sized meal would be good enough for her. Plus we are going to get soup and deserts, which would be full enough for us.

My mom couldn't find anything she wanted to eat on the menu at 50's Prime Time so our server told her she could get the kids hot dog if she wanted so that's what she had! She laughs about the time she got the hot dog at Prime Time.
