Medicated Vaseline

Hi All!

Remember as a kid, when you had a scrape your mom put medicated vaseline on your infected area?

I loved that stuff, for lips, scratches, hands. I have a very tiny bit left in a jar that's probably 10 years old.

Anyway, I tried to buy this stuff and no one seems to sell it. Does anyone know why? Or where I can purchase something similar?

thanks all!

Hi Cruisnfamily!

Thank you so much!!! I think I may order this on Amazon dot com or the Drugstore dot com!

THANK YOU, so much for your quick reply and alternative solution.

OMG! I can't believe that there is someone else in this world who knows what carbolated Vasoline is. I too have a jar that is probably way older than 10 years old. My mom put it on everything......

are you talking about icthammol? black salve? you can get it at any pharmacy in the pharmacy dept. they might have to order it but most pharmacies have it in stock.

So ichthymol is the same thing as the medicated Vaseline? After reading this thread I was thinking about looking for some. I actually keep ichthymol in the barn for my horses.

ETA: You can get it at Co-Ops or feed/supply stores.

My grandma used to use medicated Vaseline for everything and it was a miracle worker! I'd put it on a hangnail or a cut and it would be healed almost immediately.
